Beautiful Patty! I looked at that same chicken when I was at the nursery yesterday...the one in Tallahassee! It was a bit tooooo pricey for me! Besides, I want one of those tall ones...about 4-5' tall! ((big grin)) "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

Patty, your gardens are just too stunning!! I absolutely love them. And they are made just about perfect by the hardscaping, the picket fences and the outbuilding with rusted tin roofs!!! www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
|
When your gone your property will be immortalized for all that natural sweetness you've developed & nurtured there!!! It grows prettier every single summer! I can't even imagine how you keep after it all! "Those that throw mud, lose ground!" :>)

WOW I agree your gardens are lovely!! Thanks for this pics. I love that blue salvia. Didn't know it came in blue. I'd love to take a walk through your gardens!!

I forgot to steal that darn owl last summer! Now I will have to make a trip over there! :>) Is that Autumn Brilliance Fern he's sitting in? I have one...What do you feed them? "Those that throw mud, lose ground!" :>)

Thank you so much Owie! Jackierenette yes I welcome fairies in my garden! Thank you for the nice compliment! ga.karen thank you! I got that chicken at an outdoor sale for $60. I thot that was OK. There is a chicken 5' tall? LOL! Florida Farm Girl what a nice compliment! I do try to have everything tie in together. Muddy I just told DH the other day that when I die I hope someone continues my gardens. If not, THEY will be sorry! LOL! The only name I have for the ferns are Autumn. I don't do anything to them. Thanks to our mild winter there was no damage on last years growth so they didn't have to be cut. They are getting bigger & bigger! Thanks Silly Bird! This is the first year I have seen the Black & Blue Salvia. According to the tag they reseed. I sure hope so! Your grounds are so beautiful. I have some of that tall dark blue salvia too, it looks perfect around the fountain. Love all the garden art and statues. Another tour-worthy garden! :-) Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can't..... You're Right - Henry Ford

wow, all of it is just awesome!! Love that reflection in the gazing ball...and if that chicken comes up missing don't be alarmed. It will have found a new home in Tennessee. Your gardens are simply amazing...and definitely tour worthy...so thank you. BTW - yes, the black and blue are hardy...they are hummer magnets. ve

Sure enjoyed your garden

Bana what a compliment that you will use that as your desktop! And yes, please visit & bring me lunch, too! LOL! Thank you z9alady! DH hates most of the statues because I tend to move them a lot! Vera thank you so much! It's hard taking a pic of a gazing ball without it reflecting me! Glad to hear that the salvia is hardy! Thank you CJO! Wow and wow--so lovely--and yes I would like to come and stay in your gardens too! I've used black and blue salvia for several years but they are not hardy here and they don't reseed for me but they are lovely.
|
Black and Blue doesn't reseed here either, but I bought more two weeks ago. Not blooming yet but it's a favorite for hummingbirds, eventhough it's not red! Such a pretty collection you have there of statues and flowers. Much to envy! Does your gardenia and the caladium and begonias next to it in the pic come back on their own or are they in pots overwintered inside? I've seen photos of the 3 foot metal chicken...but yours is nicer http://www.lhj.com/relationshi...a-big-metal-chicken/

Thank you 16paws! Come on over! Jvelo thank you so much! The gardenia has been there for several years & is very happy! The begonias reseed everywhere. The caladiums have to be replanted each year. I just love them. My 1900s farmhouse: http://share.shutterfly.com/ac...sid=0Abtm7Zw4cMmLKvg My gardens: http://share.shutterfly.com/ac...sid=0Abtm7Zw4cMmLLBA

Patty, I always enjoy looking at your beautiful gardens, and this year is no exception. Everything looks so beautiful! I love all your statues, and I also think your lady is one of my favorites. She does look like concrete too! Do you leave your statues out over winter, or bring them in? I either bring mine in or cover them with plastic if they are too big/bulky to move. Thanks so much for sharing--gorgeous!! Karen Zone 5b

Thank you Karen! I leave mine out. They do fine. I don't think it gets as cold here as it does in your zone, but I think most of the concrete is made to withstand the weather. I have had some smaller things get cracks. My 1900s farmhouse: http://share.shutterfly.com/ac...sid=0Abtm7Zw4cMmLKvg My gardens: http://share.shutterfly.com/ac...sid=0Abtm7Zw4cMmLLBA

Patty - As usual, everything looks amazing. Every time I look at your pictures, it makes me want to come down there and lay in a hammock and rest. It's so gorgeous. Happily married and mom of 4 Central maryland - Zone 7

Beautiful! Chicken statue...the one I looked at at the nursery was marked $129! That was why I thought it was a bit pricey for such a small piece! The 5' chicken...it's at one of those places that has all the concrete stuff! I've seen some that folks have painted...I don't like that, they don't do a good job & looks tacky! I just want to leave mine concrete color if I ever get one...and I want it out by the road! Then when I give directions to the house I can tell them, "The one with the big chicken!" "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion
