Do you have any?
June 9 is FREE day at all of our National Parks.
Good day to pack a lunch and visit one if you are close!

This weekend it's supposed to be rainy...which is great. It will keep it cooler down here. We have some inside projects to work on.

Speaking of National Parks, we're going to the Grand Canyon for our anniversary in November. Have a mule ride down into the canyon scheduled...that ought to be fun. Eek

Thanks for the link, ga.Karen! We have so many beautiful parks in this country.

Here's a another link where you can locate national parks by state, by name, by location or by topic. If you click on a state on the map, you can list by view also, which tells you a bit about each park.

z9alady, Your anniversary plans sound like fun. Will this be your first trip to the Grand Canyon?

Since you'll be so close to San Diego, you should pop on over and say hi! Big Grin

We're helping cousin with a garage sale.
Sounds like fun tho. DH has a pass to get
in free at all the Nat'l parks. We've been to several.

My DH has one too...a Veteran! I think most state parks do the same thing...so inquire if you have a vet!

Yep, this will be our first trip! Staying at the Bellagio in Vegas for a couple of days, Hoover Dam, then a 5 hour drive to El Tovar for 3 days and then back to Bellagio since our flight leaves early the next morning. I can't wait to see their gardens and fountain.

Honestly? I'll be working in my garden to get ready for my son's graduation party on the 30th.

Also, we just found out that our 3 year old cat needs surgery tonight to remove 2 pony tail holders he ate yesterday and the cost will be about $3,000. Yikes. So I'm VERY stressed out. I just started selling Pampered Chef, so I need to book as many parties as possible to pay or it. (sorry for the vent!)

Yikes, $3000.00 for surgery.
We will be going to an old car rally at the VA hospital and then to play in the pool. It is suppose to be really hot. I still have a few things to plant yet. Maybe I'll get that done.

Owie -Your day sounds like a lot of fun.

We're going to work in the yard as much as possible. Luckily, they're waiting on the surgery because the items have moved. So we're still waiting.

LOL Karen...golf balls in the canyon...that is just too funny! What were you trying to do with them...get them to the other side?
The Petrified forest and painted desert sound wonderful, are those close to the south rim, that's where we are staying.

I googled it...the PF is about 150 miles from El Tovar, maybe we can make the drive if we have time. Thanks!

zone9, before my DH & I were married, he went with me to retrive my son't vehicle. Son had been stationed in Japan & wasn't able to sell it before he left...a friend kept it until I could get out there.
So we flew out to San Diego & drove back & took our clubs with us. I thought he needed to see some of the sights on our trip back so we spent one day there & he thought that would be neat...hitting a golf ball into the canyon. And he did put his name & the date on it.
I had already seen all of this many years earlier.
I took him to the petrified forrest & painted dessert and we also stopped at Metior Crater (sp?)...out in the absolute middle of no where!
We stopped some place in Tx. and played 18 holes with a Texan who had built his own clubs because he was over 7' tall! He was an interesting fella!

I have a couple of suggestions...if you know someone with ridable horses or have a riding stable any place around...you might want to get your butt ready for that mule ride! You WILL be sore if you don't! And if you go to the PF be ready to do some uphill walking...have shoes for that.

I remember my first time riding...I did get saddle-sore, and that was when I was much younger!

A mule will ride different than a horse, but it is still all about gripping with your legs/knees and that butt moving in the saddle or bouncing up/down...LOTS of sore muscles!

Oh Forensicmom, sorry to hear about your cat and the vet costs. That's tough. We just had to replace our a/c unit and that was tough. So much for getting wood floors.

This weekend we are working on the basement to get ready for the wedding next weekend. I'll be working all week to get ready. I'm excited about it but I'll be relieved when it's all said and done.
