It looks like the kind I grow. It's not a bush. It grows very much like lettuce or any other green. Start picking the bigger leaves now, but leave at least 3 smaller leaves (in the center) so it will continue growing.
Thumbie~ Here's an old pic. I once grew an ornamental but edible spinach vine from seeds.> I think it was Livingston Seeds. It was a red veined vine & something new at the time. You eat the young tender leaves. It was happy in my garden & grew up into the lights by the patio door. I also grew spinach in a pot on the patio once & it was very easy to grow from seed. Think the vine was something like ~ Malabar or something like that.
Er, uh, well, hate to say this but malabar spinach, Basella abla, isn't a true spinach. It belongs to the Basellaceae family. True spinach Spinacia oleracea belongs to the Chenopodiacae family and is a member of the goosefoot family.
Malabar spinach is grown as a warm season alternative to true spinach.

Oops, :O, I should have read more carefully. I hope I didn't offend you, as that was not my intent. If I did I sincerely apologize. I just wanted to make sure there was no confusion about what spinach looks like.
I haven't tasted the type of spinach you grew. What's it like?
No problem my dear! I think the boring stuff of years gone by tastes best & grew that (regular stuff) one year in a big~~ BIG pot right next to my garage & it was just great (for salads)! The vine of the ornamental (started from a pack of seeds) got little pink flowers (my color) so that was the main reason for trying it plus I have been interested in growing vines ever since! Don't grow many veggies anymore so you probably know more of the subject! (wink)
