I think my little dwarf shrub has a "Leaf Tip Blight"of some kind. I keeps getting brown patches all over. I cut them out and then eventually reappear. I read that you should cut off the brown dead areas and disinfect it between each cut. Okay, how do I do this? Do I carry a bucket with me and dip the pruning shears into the water/bleach solution after each time I cut something off? Do I then have to DRY the pruning shears? This is gonna take a long time. How should it be done? I guess you are supposed to disinfect so you don't infect the entire shrub/tree. But every time I cut I have to dispinfect the pruner? It's gonna take a looooooonngg time.... Wavy, Hmmm, not sure of the requirements to disinfect the pruners. I usually wipe mine with alcohol and dry with a small terry cloth. You could also use alcohol wipes. ~Like sands through the hourglass ~So are the days of our lives

Wavy, yes, that's one of the things I learned in MG class. And I agree...it will take a long time to prune anything very big. I also agree w/using alcohol..dries fast! But oil your pruners after you are done & have cleaned them for the last time. "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

Plain rubbing alcohol as a disinfectant? I actually have a bottle of that I discovered in the medicine cabinet. Have no clue who bought it or when....LOL! I should use that instead of bleach and water. Do I dilute the alcohol with water first. Where do I find alcohol wipes? THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!!! Wavy, what do they wipe your arm with before you get a shot?...alcohol! You can use it straight as it evaporates FAST. Alcohol wipes are generally in the first aid section of drug stores or cheaper at walmart. They come in a little box...ask someone! Use that bottle you have before you buy more!
