Surprising Fall Color

betSurprising Fall Color
Last spring I posted about my mums and asters blooming in May. I have been assured from many sources that they would not reliably bloom again this fall. So you can imagine how pleased and surprised I am to have these blooms, especially after experiencing 100 to 109 temps almost all summer and no rain to speak of. I don't think you can beat hardy mums.

SSTR (Stop & Smell the Roses)Very pretty! Mums are such a burst of color at this time of year. Glad they came through for you again. That's funny about your last photo - I can just visualize it flying head over heels through cyberspace & landing upside down (lol)

vera ellenBet, your mums are gorgeous. I think it was overall a good year for them. Love the yellow ones with the red eye. I'll have to look for some of those..........and girl, I am so jealous of your asters. Simply beautiful.

ga.karenGreat looking mums & aster! My mums aren't looking that good this year. Some finished blooming a couple of weeks ago & some are just now blooming. But our weather has been up/down during this time too!

WavyStunning!!! Gorgeous color this time of year and you have such beautiful varieties when everything else is long gone this time of year. A neighbor down the block has beautiful Mums too in front of her house too. Can "hardy Mum's" be planted in large pots too? How do you know if they are the "hardy" ones? I see them for sale all over, but I like the ones that come back every fall. Does it say "hardy" on the label? (never looked for them before, but I really like the beautiful colors!!!)

betAround here the mums that are out this time of year almost anywhere except at floral shops are hardy. Yes, I will usually lose a couple every winter, but I just replace them the next fall. Actually, the last couple of summers have been harder on them than the last couple of our winters.
