I know, what else is new with my gardens, right?

Well, this is the first time that I have ever had ALL of my echinacea (magnus, white swan, and coconut lime) attacked. Whatever it was didn't touch the daisys or BES. It also ate the foilage from some of my 'Autumn Joy' sedum.

I usually don't have a problem with these. Would rabbits do this? Or is it possible it's the neighborhood groundhog?

I tried sprinkling red pepper flakes, as wekk as dried blood all over the area and it hasn't done anything.

Thanks Jeanne, however it's something big, like a groundhod or rabbit b/c the larger leaves are totally eaten down and I can tell that something fairly big sat on several area of the plants. I just caught the groundhog sitting on my deck for the 3rd time today. The sad thing is, I'm on my way to animal control to get a trap to kill it. I honestly think it mght have rabbies or something. It's walking like it's drunk.

Oh my ..please be careful and keep those babies indoors..You hafta go get the trap??..I thought Animal Control did that..they do here..'cause I saw them bring ole meany next door some traps to catch our neighbors cats..and they came and picked them up..regardless just be careful..finding holes in leaves is a ritual of the Leaf Cutter Bees for nesting..once they finish their nesting it's all overwith and won't hurt your roses and other plants..as long as you see any green..they are still doing their chlorophyl thingy and only unsightly...Jeanne

Thanks. I'm definately keeping the kids inside until we get the thing out of here. I called Animal control and asked if I could just 'Blast the sucker away"? but the man didn't really think that was funny. He told me I have to come pick up the trap. They will show me how to use and they will come pick it up and dispose of it. Pretty pathetic that they won't even bring the trap.

    I'll keep you posted.

You can buy your own trap from any TSC. I got one for my Dad that had a large trap and a small trap for like $30.

But then you will have to get your hands dirty. The new pelt guns on the market are easy to use and are pretty powerful and can easily take out small varmits while in close proximity to other houses. Look for the single pump that hinge in the middle.

I have taken out 11 rabbits last year and 16 this year on my 2.5 acre lot. The tree and shrub damage is only little compared to my nieghbors who did nothing.
