Has any one heard if the Impatiens are diseased this year like they were last year? I want to plant some in my shaded pots. Thanks for a reply. Pattyo

Yes, I heard the same thing. Don't buy regular impatiens. Buy the New Guinea ones instead.

Until I read what Karen said I was unaware of a disease affecting impatiens...mostly I guess, because I don't plant them anymore since I discovered annual begonia. I suggest you try them instead---I think they have it all over impatiens anyway. Nsturtiums is another annual you might try....and nasties have a thing about them if you plant them in a vegetable garden--they ward off bugs that attack some veggies.

I understand you can eat the nasturtans blooms in salads also. That could be plus. I have taken a liking to the ANgelwing begonias, I think that is what they are called. I had one last year and it was gorgeous.

Thanks ladies for the info. Karen, I might try the New Guinea Impatiens. And Loonie, I love Nasturtiums, but will they do well in the shade? I might try the begonias too. And owie, I have also heard you can eat the nasturtiums.
