Forbidden would be lovely, but I'm not fussy. Let the others choose first, since I'm late to this party.

I would love Early Days or Coming Up Roses...either. I have some very close to Forbidden.
Do you have my addy as well? And do you realize how much you are going to spend in postage???
You might want to find out whether a small box, padded envelope or flat rate box would be cheapest. I spent about $60 when I shipped out all those white iris....and I used flat rate on most of them.

you can have both OR if you prefer, you can choose the one you like best and if the last one goes unclaimed, i'll send you both. i have put your name on both for now until you let me know what way you want to go.

I got all my daylilies online from Bob Selman's Blue Ridge Daylilies except for Coming Up Roses. that one i got at a local nursery and although it was healthy it was not as big a plant as the rest. attached is the Blue Ridge online photo of Early Days. you can google 'Coming up Roses' to see what that is supposed to look like.

i know postage will cost but thats ok. i'm not sending out near as many as you did.. and i will look for padded envelops. if memory serves me right, that's how they came to me. also, i did not keep your address so please pm it to me.

so.. advice please. do i dig them up, carefully of course, and shake off most of the soil then wrap them in damp towels and put in plastic bag? it seems to me the ones i got did not have soil and the leaves were cut about 1/2 way off. and i don't even remember them being in a plastic bag.. just mostly wrapped in damp newspaper. thanks.

When I get them mailed, they have all the dirt washed off the roots, the leaves are trimmed down to about 5-6 inches. They are wrapped in wet newspaper and in plastic bags. Daylilies are not fussy.

So what colors were you looking for? What made these disapppointing in your garden? I will pm my address, etc.

thanks, 16paws, for the how-to on the mailing. that helps me tremendously. i'm going to look for padded envelopes to use. and since i bought these last september, i figure i can dig them up any time now.. when my mood is right to do it.

i've never had daylilies and it was a gamble to buy things i could not see in person. some of the colors were freebies with my orders and not ones i would pick, like Mr Lucky. i would have never bought a red one. i like soft colors and am keeping the beautiful soft yellow Betty Warren Woods, the apricot Dixie Chick and the stargazer looking Stolen Treasure. i kind of like the two-tone Calling All Angels so am keeping that one too.. and thats how many i need for the bed i want them in. i couldn't bear to dig up the rest and just throw them away. then this idea came to me.. remembering how people share things on this board. i'm happy to know they will go to good homes where they are wanted.

so ok, it was an expensive lesson, but i don't regret doing it. i never look back at what i 'should have done'.. it is now part of my garden's life story.

HELP. when is the best time for me to dig these daylilies up and mail them?

i was going to do it tomorrow but someone brought it to my attention that if i did it now, it would be too soon to plant at the receiving end.

i don't want to rush things if now is not the right time for you all to plant when you get them. advice please?

I've moved them at all different times down here without any adverse effects. In fact, I just dug up a couple babies & stuck it pots so they can grow more before I put them in a permant spot.
The only time I haven't moved them was when they had died back during the winter months.
