any orchid growers out there.....
I got this orchid for a present 2 years ago, I think that it is cymbinian(?) and here is what it looks like now. It needs help or the trash.

How have you been caring for your orchids? They like cool nights. Water with a weak orchid fertilizer solution every week. (Weakly, weekly). Wish I could see your cymbidium in person. You can cut off all the dried, brown stuff & see what's green underneath that.

Your 2nd orchid could be a phaleanopsis (sp) & that might just be a new flower bud, but I'm not sure. I'll find some orchid sites for you. I usually just ignore mine except for their weekly watering. Then they put out buds once or twice a year & put on a show.

You can try this site: www.beautifulorchids.com and you can also google orchid care..lots of helpful sites out there. You can also click on images in google & type in orchids & you'll see lots of nice pics. Good luck & post back if I can help more.

+I have 10 orchids and I water them once a week with 1/4 cup water, I water with an orchid fertilizer when they are starting to bud.
That is not a bud but looks like one in between those two small leaves, may leave it alone for a while and see what happens.

That cymbidium one, all the tall green leaves that were on it started dying off when it was done blooming then the new ones came out, this orchid is sitting on a stool year round in my living room.

Thanks for the site, will look at it later this evening.

I've been thinking about your orchid. That may just be a seed head...a bit unusual.

Now that I've looked closer, I think you may be right & have a new plant started down below. Good luck with your orchids...I love having mine.
