Ahhhh Finally! Here it is June! I had them tucked into the sides of my patio pots so I could check on them often & make sure they survived to show you!!!
I didn't plant many of the datura this year becuz of Rascal but these are where he knows he's not allowed to go! Just threw the seeds in the bed ! They have buds.
How pretty. The buffalo eyes are so delicate...are they perennial or annual? Your hosta bed is gorgeous! I see rose campion peeping out around the datura. Mine has already bloomed and I've cut it back! The blooms are so sweet.

They prefer shade & moisture & rich soil. I've had some in this same area that struggled for years until I started improving the soil. Always check the gardening zone so you don't waste your money.
Hey muddy, they are pretty little things aren't they? They don't make me think of buffalo eyes, that just doesn't seem like a good name for them.Mine of coarse bit the dust.

Are you talking about the 1st pic....thoses are peat pellets... they come compress, and when yoy add water to the they expand and you put seeds in to start them. Those are the buffalo eyes just sprouting.

Bana my dear~ The peat pots? They are in an old plastic container ~?~ Those were growing under my growlights in April. Is that it? The plants were growing in a mixture of stuff on my patio now...Think one pot had cannas.
Thumbie! ~ In my reading online I see they are called Five Spot Flower. Nemophila maculata Likes half sun & half shade & guess that's why they still look healthy under the shade of the other plants. Native to California!! Annual & actually a wildflower!
Jeanette, hostas don't do well in our hot and humid climate. I keep trying but they just don't flourish. I think the last one that survived has bitten the dust this year.
Your hostas look beeyooteefull, Muddy!!!! They look like they are very happy in the perfect spot!!!
Growing hostas in the south is a labor of love, but it can be done. Most folks I know grow them in pots. If you really wanted to explore hosta growing in FL, TX or CA, you could check out the hosta forum on GardenWeb. There are several hosta experts there who have figured out a way to do it.
But then again....if it was a huge challenge for me, I probably wouldn't do it, either! Not with the variety of things you can grow there that we can't grow here. We'll enjoy your beautiful tropical plants and let you enjoy our cold-hardy ones!!
