Poor hibiscus! The new growth was hanging limp until I gave it water at the roots & shade today.

~~~~~Big Smile!!~~~~Love that! Even have a couple more big umbrellas out there (not featured! LOL) plus every small one I could find! LOL I bring them in if they say storms or wind! LOL I think the plants appreciate a cloudy day or shade even if the temps are high. I started doing this when I saw my lilies actually getting fried so quickly in this horrible heatwave! Is it the end of the world! Just not used to this high heat!
Muddy, how clever you are........and what an umbrella collection you have. Everything looks pretty and appreciative of the shade. My lilies are indeed fried........try 2 wks of consecutive 100+ temps, and no umbrellas Cry
That is so clever! I've done that last year (or the yr before that) when we had a lot of heavy rains!. I tried to put some of the planters underneath my deck table and the ones that didn't fit and that I couldn't cover up, I put regular umbrellas over them. You have some collection of beach umbrellas and they sure came in handy!! What a great momma you are!!! Cool Star
Do you go to the beach often and use those umbrellas? Wink
Here's a little something I learned a while ago...actually, many years ago.
If you are at an age that, when the temperatures climb to unbearable highs, try this:
fill your bathtub the night before and let it gain room temperature. Then when the heat is unbearable, slip into the tub and sit for 10 - 15 minutes...no longer.
Leave the tub and redo this later in the day if you feel uncomfortable again.
Otherwise, let the water out, and refill the tub, letting it gain room temperature again for the next day. Repeat as often as you feel comfort but never stay in the tub longer than the 15 minutes.
Well Muddy....if nothing else you have a VERY COLORFUL yard with all your umbrellas!
We bought a patio one this year to shade our front porch until the sun gets over the porch roof. We like sitting out there so we can see lots of things going on including all our bird feeders.
