Angelonia... or Summer Snapdragon
Boy, I'd like to try it... but it's not hardy to my zone, which may be in part why I've never heard of it. (Some sites say hardy to zone 8 and above, winter hardy to zone 9 and higher, winter indoors in zone 7)
It's a pretty perennial. (To me, looks like a cross between salvia and snapdragon.
Various colors, easy to grow, long blooming and drought tolerant ......what's not to love.
If it ever gets hardy to my zone, or I see seeds here I may try it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: clbselah,
I love Angelonia......it is one of those great "spikey" plants that is good for containers. It's an annual here too. Hummingbirds migrate to it. This is the first year that I haven't had any in a long while.....cutting down on pots, remember!
I have been checking local nurseries for a yellow peony, to no avail. I have seen order sites but I prefer buying locally when I can. My favorite colors for my beds are red and yellow and a yellow peony would be a prize.

We're in zone 6 and they sell angelonia here -- but it's sold as an annual. And there seems to be a lot of it for sale!
