Those look like the ones I had last year that killed my zinnias!
They don't last long around here if I see them. I had one on a tomato plant and he was stripping it as he went! BIRD FOOD!

It looks like a sphinx moth cat to me. There are several different kinds, including the hornworm that strips the tomato plants. I have one on my tomatoes right now but haven't been able to find it....yet. I just relocate them.
