Its a male Rose Breasted Grossbeak.. They seem to be appearing at feeders frequently now. I have friends in Arkansas and Missouri who have them, and I had one up here in NY on Sunday

I have several of these birds at my feeder now. In the spring and the fall they stop by on their way through. They are beautiful.

I live in north SC and have seen only two of them in the 17 years I have been in this house. I get so excited when a new or strange bird appears at the feeders. That fellow is beautiful!

Aren't they beautiful!
Right now we have a small flock of them on our feeders ... so many the cardinals don't even come in until very late when the grosbeaks go to bed.

AND each year we get a few northern orioles for a couple weeks .... This year we have dozens. And for the first time ever we also have two pair of orchard orioles. I've never even seen one of those before.

I love to see the grossbeaks! We usually get a few but unfortunately - they just pass through and don't stay very long. By the way - the females look like a large sparrow but with the "grossbeak". Funny how different males are!
