OT-prayers for our firefighters
Not sure if anyone saw this on the national news
about the firefighters who were ambushed
and 2 killed in Rochester on Christmas
Eve. So sad and this weekend there are firefighters
from all over the country here to support
the families and fellow volunteers and lay these
Heroes to rest. Thank all your police and
Firefighters for all they do.
When will all the craziness end

I believe that all Firemen (and especially the volunteer firemen) are the true heroes of our day. They should get paid much more than they do, for all they do, especially for the added dangers of current times.

Volunteer firefighters in most small communities often get NO pay at all, and just a stipend for gas/fuel to get to the station. Often they have to pay for their own training too, and depending on their employers, may or may not get paid time off when called for an emergency.

(And compare that to what professional sports players get!)

Yes, I heard about it on the news and was heartbroken. What a mean-spirited, crazy thing to do. It is such a pity. I never understood the notion of "Volunteer Firefighters". It is one of the most dangerous jobs there is. I don't think anyone should volunteer for that. If you want an adrenaline rush, watch a boxing or wrestling match. There is an awful lot of 'craziness' going on all around us. From the 26 innocent people killed in the Sandy Hook School and several shootings after that, all over the country. I am fearful about the newest craziness going on - people being pushed in front of the NYC subway trains. My sister takes the NYC subway daily (& I used to, yrs. ago) and that is a new fear, added to all the others. I WISH FOR A PEACEFUL NEW YEAR!
No drama, no crime.... I can wish, can't I?

I know what you mean Wavy. My son lives in Brooklyn and also takes the subway everyday and now another worry. It seems to never stop.

It is sad.
Especially that mental/hospital help may be unavailable for those who truly need it, before they can hurt someone else. Many prisons are full of people who may have broken the law, but are not an actual danger to society. Others (like this character) still a danger, but there is no room or funds for them in institutions.

On the other hand, positively speaking, I am very amazed and astounded of all the situations that actually go right in our country, and the world.
I personally refuse to live in fear, and also wish very much for a peaceful new year.

I will for the all firefighters and the good police officers. I'm afraid of most of our police officers because they have become violent and are ki*lling unarmed people. One police officer kicked and stomped on a woman in the groin until she killed her. The woman was unarmed and not a threat. The police officer wasn't there by herself she had several other officers with her.

I wonder if what the officers are seeing is increasing the amount of violence on their part coupled with our Police Chief who doesn't reprimand them for bad behavior. A couple of days ago a man went inside a Walgreens and purchased rubbing alcohol and then went outside doused a woman in rubbing alcohol and then set her on fire. She was a 67 yr. old homeless woman trying to sleep on a bus bench. She always had a smile even for people who were unkind to her and she never begged. She is in the hospital in critical condition. Please include her and the people who witnessed this horrific act in your T's & P's.

We just returned from a NYC trip and saw/read several reports of this sad story. Wow.
What suffering this individual has caused. These volunteers will be remembered as heroes.
