Have any of you ever found a baby hummer, dangling from a spider web? I did this morning. I thought it was a leaf at first, then looked at it closer and saw that it was a hummer.

You can tell by the coloring on his throat that he is a juvenile male. He is trying to fly, but doesn't seem to be able to. He doesn't have any apparent injuries.
Guesses...ANYONE?!

That's hummer food in the milk cap.

awwwwww how sweet is that! I think he'll be ok...probably just tramatized. Hopefully he has flown away by now.

Spider webs are bad this year aren't they. I went out on the back deck last night and nearly walked into a big web with a big fat spider in it....it had built the web from ceiling post to ceiling post. Had I gone down the steps the thing would have been in my hair. UGH!

I know he's sweet and precious, but unfortunately, he's still here. He's trying to fly and otherwise acts "normal", but he just doesn't seem to be able to fly.

Barb, we had one run into one of our porch posts last year and stunned itself. I picked it up & put it in one of my flower pots up high so the cats couldn't find it. It stayed there for over 2 hrs. and then disappeared.
Guess it just takes them awhile to get themselves back together?

They're tough little guys. Once you got him well fed and he rested up, he was on his way. I'm so glad he flew the coop!!!

What a cutie! Glad you fed him and he's alright now. We are always finding babies around here. Most of them make it, a few don't.
