I have goobs I just dug up! I've already taken a big bunch to a neighbor (about as big around as a basket ball) and I'm putting some in 3 boxes to fill requests from the Natural Yard board.

PLEASE, does anyone want some? I've got at least 70-80 starts...maybe more.
Just PM me your addy unless I might already have it.

They bloom once & EARLY. They spread down here quickly! They are a little shorter than the newer hybrid iris.

Jan, click on my name in my post. Click on my "personal profile". Then scroll down & you can see on the right side where to send a personal message.
When someone sends one to you...at the top of threads will be an additional box telling you "you have a new PM".

Ok Muddy, got it on "your" list that I keep!

What is on your WISH LIST??

I wish I had more time & a LOT more energy! Just digging those things up and replanting a couple in the huge hole and then finishing putting down pine straw on that side of the house wore me out today!

Now I need more boxes from the PO. Think I'll hit the attic first...DH keeps telling me I don't NEED to put all those empty boxes in the attic...little does he know! Big Grin

Anyone else interested in some? If not, what's left is going into our burn pit!

I should make it to the PO later today with all the boxes going out!
Everyone enjoy!
Yours is coming too Muddy, I checked your 10 day forecast & it looks like your night temps should be ok when the box gets there. Did the same on your temps JanC.

On second thought, I'm going to a really small town PO so I may just drop some there & let folks take what they want...that works for me! Big Grin I HATE throwing out good plants!

Ladies, there is no need to send me things...but I will gladly take anything you wish to share. Big Grin That's how I have gotten much of my "gardens"...from both these & other boards and from a few locals.

Muddy, name something and I can either look it up or may already know if it will grow here. I have some zone 7 plants & some that aren't supposed to go above zone 9....micro climate here.
I've got to get all this work done before I sit down & try VERY HARD to post pictures!

And DH is taking me to a store grand opening tomorrow in a town about 50 mi. from here...a farm store, that has some plants, and gardening equipment, and oh boy...wonder what I can find for him to buy me????? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
They are serving a free lunch & giving away a NICE trailer...that's why he wants to go! Roll Eyes

LOL Jan!

My DH just told me we have volunteer tomato plants coming up in one of the compost piles down by the veggie garden area (it's a couple city blocks from the house...at least it seems that far).
I just planted all my tomatoes...now I need to find a way to work in at least 1 more! Big Grin These are in my little patch up by the house...those way down there will get eaten by horn worms!

I'm glad to know everyone got their boxes! Ya'al are entirely welcome!
I'll probably have more next year as I have another bunch that needs divided in a differt bed. So if anyone wants some next year...I keep a list! Big Grin

That is so generous of you Karen! I was wondering how do you pack Irises (or any other flower) when you want to mail it to someone? Do you just wrap the roots in a wet paper towel and then into a plastic bag and into a box?
A small box? Just wondering, thanks!

Wavie, yes! I didn't clean them off much and since these were kind of odd shapes I took a zip lock storage bag & put a wet paper towel into the bottom of the bag & then laid the iris in it. I folded the bags how ever I needed to to get them into the boxes.
MOST of the boxes were the Post Office small flat rate boxes...a few were other small boxes I had because my PO ran out of that size flat rates. I taped all of them closed really we cause I had to stand on a couple of them (uh oh) to get the boxes closed! Big Grin
I have shipped both perishable & breakable for years...I used to sell Watkins products and shipped those all over the country too! And now it is cheaper to ship thru the PO than it is UPS or the other delivery places.
I LOVE the flat rate boxes!...just wish they were a bit bigger.

Anyone shipping to an APO or FPO...there is a large flat rate box that is $2 cheaper to send that states it is going APO or FPO...just found that out this year! My son was military for 20 yrs. and never stationed close to me...and now he is working in Japan...so still shipping stuff to him & his family!

I forgot to say...I trimmed the tops of the iris off before shipping. It won't hurt them any and makes it easier to get them in smaller boxes.
