In my row veggie garden I will again have vine type plants such as cukes, yellow and zuchinni squash. I would like to try to control their spreading and have read about vertical growth. Has anyone tried it and if so what was your successful style? I have barrier down and really don't want to poke holes in it if I don't have to, guess I could put the poles (if needed)on the outside and stretch the fence or whatever across BUT I want to hear your stories first. Thanks.

That's exactly what we did in a previous home. Made a long "teepee" with bamboo poles (about 5ft high and 10 feet long) and attached chicken wire on the outer sides with wire. We had a nice crop of cukes and they never touched the ground.
Forgot to add, we grew green beans too. This message has been edited. Last edited by: zone9alady,
