Rescued this lil Mandevilla. She was 1/2" after I cut off the split stem a bit. Now she's 2" tall. I'm hoping she'll grow tall like her big sister. Hoping to get good enuf growth to overwinter. I did 2 last winter. I had to add a bit more soil and change her pot. Looks like I might be able to add more soil now wo burying her. She's got a great root system. This message has been edited. Well you're giving it a great try. Best of luck with her. Her big sister sure looks good. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've decided to quit my job, drop out of society, and wear live animals as hats."

I think you can. Talk to her everyday and tell her how pretty she is. Everyone likes to be made l o v e to.

Of course you can. Ga. Karen gave me one and it's still alive. Also the one in my post is cut back every fall and put in the basement. How do you keep yours all winter?

Well worth the try! I cut mine back to about 6" and put it in a sunny window. Worked for me last year, now its enormous! SillyBird, do you water yours while in the basement?

And I stick mine in my little garden house for the winter. Last winter it got kinda sick...after I'd taken the cutting to root for sorie/silly bird. It is just now actually looking like a plant and putting out a vine. I repotted it this past spring. Still no blooms this year. I think it may go in our bedroom this winter! Shook I water it when I remember!! Not very often. Same with the Bouganvillea.

silly bird (I like writing that), that's what I do. There's one next to big sister that's the lighter pink flower that you can barely see in the picture. I overwintered that one last year. Because I got a late start on its attention, it didn't get real big but still it flowered. How many years can we keep them going? BTW: the lil one was only 50 cents and the big one was $1.00 I think; so not out much.

I've lost 2 of them trying to keep them over 2 winters. Cut them back, don't cut them back, very little water, regular water. I have a lovely one this year & I'm debating how to save it this winter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've decided to quit my job, drop out of society, and wear live animals as hats."

She's a cutie....I dig mine every fall and pot up for inside......this year not the first stinking bloom, although they did vine nicely. Weird. ve
