Go out late at night with a flashlight and check for slugs. Here is link to web page of of slug damage to plants. Pretty big bites don't you think ? No signs of slugs so maybe rabbits?? Anyone grow this? Its a shade plant with yellow flowers & these beautiful large leaves ! Think I might have to put a rose collar
around it & hope it continues to improve?? I got this new last Fall & was so happy to see it made it thru its first winter in my garden~~ Then this!

So it wasn't Slug the Thug? Maybe it was a grasshopper? These guys take big chucks out of my EE's.

Check the underside of the leaves, too. I found those blasted sawfly larvae on my mini roses already...lil buggers. I really have to watch for them on my hardy hibiscus...they're terrible.
