Ugh! I know you love those, Muddy, but I would not be upset at all if you came and dug up about 40 bazillion of them in my yard! I'd still have just as many left. Mad Censored

I have one clump of these and I have no idea where they came from. They are in my shade garden and DON'T spread. I do think they are pretty, but then they are not invasive for me.

Our backyard is full of them. Unfortunately they get mowed over & don't cause a problem. They are pretty little surprises in the grass. I have put some under my spirea bushes as a ground cover.

The ones in my grass don't bother me--it's the ones in every single flower bed I have that do. It just looks like they are over-run with grass all the time. By the time they finally bloom, the foliage is drooping onto the ground...ugh! Sorry, they are just NOT for me!

OK thanks !! That was my first guess but I haven't had any for years! These came a few years ago in a potted shrub (bonus)& looked like crocus at the time. I just left them in the shade & this year the blooms! Actually loved them years ago & nothing
spreads easily in my clay! (even amended clay!) My mom had a small bed of them by her back door & it was very pretty.

Ditto all of the above aggressive statements. I have lifted shovel fulls and tossed them out in the pasture...if you miss one little bublet, a whole new group will sprout up. My silly SIL wanted a bunch so I filled a 5 gallon bucket for her. Big Grin

So anyone who wants them come dig'em with my thanks.

Muddy, I'd be happy to send you some, however, they have already melted into the ground now....at least that's the good thing about them. I pull the yellowed foliage and they just disappear. Remind me next spring when they start sprouting up everywhere and all I can dig are yours my dear!!!

PS: sorry about the bad leg.

We used to see them growing on the roadside when we were kids.
I remember picking the flowers! I did have a small clump that came with my current house but haven't seen them in a few years.

I think moles or voles ate them under my apple tree many years ago. I just loved them! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Ah shucks...not cheap in the stores.

I have a very small clump blooming now. They don't seem to spread so it must be the clay in my yard too. Unlike the wild violets and feverfew which run rampant over all the beds, these seem to stay in a tiny corner of a bed. I actually think that I bought some tiny bulbs a couple of years ago and planted them there.

I have one tiny clump that I dug up along a road down here. Barb is right, they are one thing that is NOT invasive down here. Also, I'm finding that those wild violets that I brought back from Ill. aren't spreading either! We used to have tons of the SOBs ( Eek Big Grin ) in our yards in Ill.

Yikes, just noticed that my small patch has become 3--I could swear this happened overnight, but that can't be the case. I guess I will have to monitor that stuff a lot closer. I have a problem with ivy in that bed as well as lamium that has gone a bit wild.
