We put down a pea gravel patio last summer. We have to add alot more gravel this year to fill it in but the problem was the patio chairs keep sinking into the rocks. I love the look of it and when they do it on HGTV it always looks so beautiful but I need to stop my chairs from sinking. A friend suggested spreading powdered concrete around it and spraying it with a hose to solidify it. Does anyone know if this might work? Thanks!!

I think what you've been seeing is decomposed granite which is different. It hardens on its own with water and looks nicer than plain concrete. I often wonder how long this stuff would last also with the movement of patio chairs. But I doubt that sprinkling and spraying concrete and water would have the same effect. It just sounds like you'd have lots of gray broken up concrete mixed into your pea gravel. Sorry I don't have any better solution other than raking away the stone and putting down actual concrete. You can embed some gravel into the top of it before it dries and get a nicer look than plain concrete but still lose that sinking feeling.

Not just the avatar...your picture is the HUGEST hosta I've ever seen...can't even fit on my screen!!! I'm guessing there's a resize program of some kind? I'm on an Apple and use Photoshop, but I'm sure there's a PC version of some kind...LOL! Oh wait, the hosta IS the avatar...I can't see the patio pic at all

No, all the forums on are having the same issues today. I'm wondering if they've increased the size allowed for attachments? Maybe it'll be all fixed by tomorrow. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

After not being able to get in then got in finally, I saw that most avatars were huge. Then the page was huge.I had to press Ctrl and Alt at the same time while turning the wheel on the mouse to get it to fit the page. Don't like all this resetting.

Sorry about that, guys! I had to change my avatar and it is finally normal sized. I have no idea why this happened, because I didn't change my settings or anything! For now, Hosta-Zilla is in hiding!! Karen Zone 5b

I think there was a problem with the message boards yesterday. My screens were all different than they normally are. So what about an electric? tamper...how do they get these patios to be so functional on tv?

I have been researching this and saw the idea of flagstone pavers. It looks like I can use the peagravel patio as a base and put flagstone on it top? Does anyone know anything about this? We need an inexpensive solution and need the space to be a functional dining area. Any ideas would be really appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Setting the flagstone in the pea gravel would give you a stable footing for the furniture. As for walking, the pea gravel is good. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
