Remember the Flicker wanting my help?
Hope this isn't crude, but today I heard a big thump on my glass door, looked out on my deck and saw what appears to be a baby Flicker down for the count.
Now I'm wondering if that was Mama Flicker at my door last week? And where did baby Flicker come from? Could I have a nest close by? Isn't this an odd time to be having offspring?

Poor birdie. It looks like a goldfinch to me.

o,maybe it is. I went out to take a further look. It just may not be the Flicker. I've just never seen a goldfinch around here...mostly they've been woodpeckers, bluebirds, flickers, etc. I'm enjoying seeing all the variety, especially since our sub really doesn't have that many large trees yet.

I had the visiting goldfinch also...Is there a cat around there. Was he asking for your help?

We get them all the time. We put out niger seed for them in net bags and tube feeders.

We get goldfinches here. I see them at the feeders. Their color is amazing. I have stickers that are meant to be put on windows and glass doors to prevent birds from flying into them.

It might also be one of the warblers. There are a lot of them that look close to the same.
I have already seen at least one down here so they are already into their migration.
I get an influx of pine warblers that stay for the winter here....once in awhile I'll get a goldfinch.
So you may be in a migration path that is used by several different species???
