I probably should have waited until more blooms opened...was just so excited to go out this morning and see this beauty. This is Susan's 3rd year...had no clue she'd get this tall at maturity. She is growing up through the lower limbs of the crabapple tree. also snapped a picture of a purple cleome. Who doesn't love purple cleomes????? ve

Beautiful lily and a wonderful cause it is named for. I have cleome but seem to only get the white ones with a couple scattered pink but not many. Such a pretty purple! "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."

So pretty! I don't know anything about cleomes. Now I have to go Google.

The lily is a beauty & so is the cleome! But so is the calla! Love that combo! I have some pink w/white edged asian lilies that are starting to bloom too. Mine are about 4' tall. And I think this is their 4th yr. I saved some cleome seeds last year. I've planted them in my garden house...nothing has come up! I've done this before & not had any problems, so I'm stumped! GaKaren, you should be able to just let your cleome self sow...I never save seed from mine...and I always have to pull and toss to thin. Your seeds might be like my non-existent zinnia's this year. Never had this problem before....remember, after 3 sowings, still nothing!!! ve

VE, I've got such think pine straw on the bed where the cleome were last year I don't think the seeds can get enough light to germinate. I put the mulch down last year while everything was growing...that was why I collected seeds. I didn't want to have to do this bed again for a couple of years...and I won't have too...but my zinnias that normally reseed in that bed didn't come up either. I have gotten a few zinnias to come up in the garden house...I think I've finally had a few survive the transplant out to the beds. But of course, not the colors I was hoping for so far. I wanted peachy, red & yellow...so far light pink, dark pink & orange. "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

yes, I understand now......the thick pine straw would prevent germination. That still doesn't explain my lack of germination on the zinnias...saved seed and bought seed, nada. I don't mulch the beds where I want reseeding, so I guess that's why the cleome take over...same with the plume celosia & the coral salvia. However, I love'em so just pull out what I don't want. I'm glad you got a few zinnia's anyway. ve
