Anyone grow this? Why is mine blooming so late? I am trying to establish it in acouple spots & it survived the long hot summer but the early cold may bite the buds!
I thought the birds ate all my Scarlet Runner Beans! These were hidden deep inside the vine! I only plant for decorative reasons but got enough seeds for next year! Ya!>
I love blue monkshood but it didn't take well to my wet clay soil and it died after a couple of years. I had it near some turtlehead which have overrun the area. Hope that yours blooms.
Aren't some of our local trees gorgeous? I just adore the colors--some are spectacular! The deer rummaged through my newly planted pansies at the office. They ate all the flowers and pulled the plants out of the large container and threw them around. Last week I saw them munching away on the rose bushes in front of the next building. They didn't even move but just stood there and kept eating. What a crew!

Those deer heard all the rumors about you Paws! She feeds all the critters at her house they said!
The place where that stuff is doing the best for me has been well amended with our own compost. I only have my one turtlehead that I bought originally & no luck with seeding that stuff.
Muddy, the monkshood is pretty......not familiar with it. I wonder if it would live down here. Love your fall colors. We have nothing like that here yet. Yours are so bright. I have a gazillion beans on my purple hycianth bean vine...so there will be some to share when they dry if anyone is interested.
edited to add: the porcelain berry vine is gorgeous.
That looks like a spider to me!
Paws, what a shame about the deer eating the pansies.

I have a monkshood altho it's a different color from yours. I have no idea why your's is blooming late, mine bloomed in July/August. You might research how poisonous the plant is as some sites warn against touching the foliage or any part of the plant. I wear double disposable gloves to deadhead. The plant I now have is the second one as I disposed of the first after reading how poisonous it was. Years later another one appeared in my garden in a different place, perhaps courtesy of the birds and I've let it stay altho am careful around it.

I know that Monkshood is poisonous but I like the blue ones just the same. Mine used to bloom in late August and September. Yours seems late Muddy but I hope that it blooms. Freeze warning tonight, brrr As for the turtleheads, I am ready willing and able to dig some up and bring them over--mine have gotten quite aggressive and some need to be pitched!

Perhaps blooming late as in too much shade? It is so pretty but with the early cold this year...what a waste. I have it in places where the doggie doesn't go!
