'Pauls Hiymalayan Musk' rose? I saw it in the wayside cataloge and thought it was pretty. when I read that it's best put at the base of a tree I was even more intruiged because I have lots of mature trees that I could plant it at. Then I read that it needs sun and I was wondering how that works. Your supposed to plant it so it grows up a tree but,it still needs sun? Does anybody have one? Have you seen one growing up a tree? I sure would appreciate any info on it. thanks alot!!!

Sorry,I don't have this rose, but most trees, depending on their location will get enough sun to grow roses. It is usually early morning, and then late afternoon sun at the base of a tree.

the 'perfect' set up for this would be a tree that stands alone in the yard, that is a biggun, and is limbed up quite high.... that way, the only shade on the rose would happen near the noontime hours and it would still get morning and later afternoon sun....to add up to the usually required six to eight for roses.....

if there are other trees around, tho, and their shadows fall on that tree, the rose will not get enuff ....

a great woodland area, where the sun shines from the south on the trees at the edge of the woods, would be a good one for a rose to climb.... I have one down the road.... a wild rose grows up that tree to a height well above twenty ft!...

Also remember that 'Paul's Himalayan Musk' is a "rambler" and will need for you to be vigilant in directing and tying up the rose to get it to grow up your tree in the beginning...ramblers' growth pattern is quite different than a climber, but it can be done...Jeanne
