I am in zone 5-6, SE Michigan. Does anyone think I can sow peas now, for a fall crop? I know they do well in cooler weather, as my summer peas just petered out quickly. Opinions? Judge not, you don't know their story.

Peas germinate best in reltively cool soil, 50 to 60 degrees, so now may not be the best time if your soil temperatures are higher then that. You can sow then as late as 10 weeks before your Average Latest Date of Frost, which may be approaching. If your soil is not well mulched, which aids in lowering the soil temperature you may want to do that to get those soil temps down. Kimmsr, are you planting fall crops, and if so, what are you planting? I really like peas, so I am gonna try them, and see what happens..... Judge not, you don't know their story.

CJ, I will be planting some fall/winter crops just a bit later than you. I have just planted seeds in my garden house for 6 kinds of onions, 2 kinds of cabbage, broccoli & celery. I'll be direct seeding some radishes, lettuce & 2 kinds of peas a little later too. Oh, and more carrots...gotta have more carrots!
