I had to share these pics with you all. We went for a drive to Brainard lake near Netherland, Co. and saw these beautiful guys.(I guess they are both guys. Thanks for looking. I know the pics are a little blurry but I was soooo excited to see them.  | |||

Thanks for posting these great photos! I didn't know there were black moose, just assumed they were all brown. How would we like to be a moose and have to maneuver through the brush with all that head gear? Wow! | |||

The ones here are actually a dark gray (charcoal) and not black. They are absolutely huge, strong and are able to push their way easily through most any foliage. No problem.  | |||

Great pics! TFS I love seeing moose altho haven't seen any here for a couple of years. Dangerous animals tho, give them a wide berth! They can demolish a vehicle. WOW- great pictures!!! My brother/his family saw a moose this summer in the Adirondacks. They are such huge animals and all because they eat greens which I never knew  "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." | |||

Thanks everyone. I was a wonderful surprise to be able to see them. Once in a lifetime sighting. A friend of ours goes up to this lake every Sat and hikes and sees them all the time. He's seen 4 at once!! Lucky guy!! | ||||

Great photos! They are beautiful but so huge. I remember about 30 years ago there was a neighborhood bar I used to go to after work sometimes to meet friends. Right above the entry was a mounted moose head from the shoulders up. I could never get over how huge that thing was. They must be 8-9 feet tall! Sadly, that was my only encounter with a moose.
