Wavee - you are a riot! Please tell me that you were joking about the yellow boxes under the white pants. Yellow Box is a flip flop brand...aka, a sandal! LOLing!!

Oh my, I wasn't joking, Honeychile! I have never heard of "Yellow Boxes" flip flops! :O My Bad! (that's a young expression!) I must ask my sister if she knows that brand. She is always, always, always shopping. If she doesn't know the brand, then they don't exist.....(just kidding!)
Vera, I just knew you weren't that kind of lady that would wear 'yellow boxers' under whities!! (not tighty whities, plain whites!!!)Big Grin

Ya'll ladies are just too much! I just bought a pair of white pants for an outdoor wedding a couple of weeks ago. The material has to be thick..no see-throughs for me. I think they were Alfred Dunner.

As far as garter belts and other unmentionables....yep I remember them all...weren't they just awful! I don't need to worry about "that" anymore anyway.
And 36DDD, welcome to the club. When I lose this 40lbs I'm working on it will be back to only one "D" again. "sigh"

BTW...I have a nice Seiko watch, but I stopped wearing it when I stopped working. It's been sitting in my jewelry box for 9 years now.

I've been a big girl (almost 5'10") and a big eater all my life. That is my problem, I still eat like I did in my 20's and 30's and had no problem with it back then.
Now since I'm 54, my metabolism ain't what it used to be.

So now I actually use portion control (new thing for me) No snacking after dinner while watching TV and back on the treadmill. With my arthritic joints all I can do is walk so that's better than nothing.
Yesterday I spent 2 hours outside weeding (my favorite thing) Roll Eyes so that helps too.

I have never heard of Yellow Boxes, thought they were yellow some kind of square undies.....This thread DID take on a life of it's own...and hilarious to boot! Beats the trials and tribulations of bugs/weather/work on plants!!!! Thanks!

In my opinion, exercise and portion control is the "secret" to weight control, especially over a certain age. Wink

I much prefer walking/running for exercise outside, but for a variety of reasons, my treadmill and I are "one" for at least 5 miles a day. And, unfortunately, I'll never be able to eat (and not gain an ounce) like I did when I was younger. But, for the sake of better health (not to mention looking a little better (hopefully!) in those white pants), it's all worth it. Big Grin

Hazel, I meant to congratulate you on that terrific weight loss! You looked great at your DD's wedding. That's alot of weight, how did you do it, and how long did it take you?
Of course, having a DD getting married is all the incentive you need, right?
Now you are only one "D". Poor baby!!!
My DD complains about being 'flat chested' (19 y.o.)Big Grin While prom dress hunting last year, I found a bra that made you look 2 SIZES LARGER!! I thought I died and went to heaven!! I was soooo happy for her. Of course, a few weeks later, I went and bought about 5 more 'nice' bras for her. Now she looks like a nice "C" (LOL!!!)
Of course, I still need bras, baby always comes first, right?

Karen, my "secret" was Weight Watchers! I can't seem to ever do it on my own--the idea of "just cutting back" doesn't really work with me...I have to be on a program of some sort. I've gained a few lbs. back since I quit going to the meetings. I got pretty undisciplined over the winter--comfort food and all! And don't even get me started on all those yummy Pinterest recipes I've tried! Eek

DD is now working as a weight loss counselor at a place called Slim 4 Life, so I'm letting her take me on as a client. It's VERY tough--extremely restrictive, and the first week or so, I thought I'd starve to death!! But now, I realize you really can survive on MUCH less food than you think, and it's kinda melting off right now. It's not for long term, just long enough to get this extra padding off, and then back to maintenance for me. My oldest son is getting married on August 4th, so I want to be slim and trim and beautiful for that--we'll see! Big Grin

I do know this: losing weight is NO fun!! I love to cook and I love to eat even more! Frown

Oops, Wavie! I was still posting and didn't realize you had posted so I'll just add to this. It took me about 8 months to lose it, but I never reached goal--got within 7 pounds (WW sets your goal weight unless you have a Dr. say otherwise). After 2 years, I finally quit because I had already spent $1000, and thought that was enough!

And by the way, I am still 2 D's....easily....Frown

Had to come back. Big Grin

No seams in my "stockings" so I'm still a young chick. LOL

But I am old enough to be of the opinion that a pair of legs covered with a good quality pair of stockings/panty hose look better than a ***** pair of legs. Especially for us former sun worshipers who abused our skin and now have splotchy coloring. I've also seen many young women who would benefit from a bit of covering on their legs.

I know times have changed but I'm sorry, I cannot wear a dress and pumps with no stockings. I think it looks like you forgot something. Stockings just complete the look. And my legs are not splotchy...just white. Big Grin

I totally agree with you. I hate the look and feeling of wearing a dress (especially to a formal event like a wedding, etc.) without pantyhose. I have heard that pantyhose are no longer 'in vogue'. I guess if you have gorgeous legs that actually look good without stockings, it's okay. But if it's very obvious that you aren't wearing stockings (pasty white, blotchy, veiny legs for starters...) then it's a "no go"!
I do not remember or have I ever worn stockings with "seams" so I guess I'm young....LOL!!! Wink

what was your first bra experience like? mine... i was in the 8th grade and the school nurse had to do something, forget what, which required us girls to take our blouses off. everyone but me had a bra.. and here i was in my undershirt. talk about embarrassed. i went home and told my mother that i had to have a bra.. had nothing to put in one but nevertheless had to have one. so she gave me one of my grandmothers.. with at least a B cup.. maybe more. i wore that until i could get the double A one i actually needed. i can still see that bra in my mind's eye and will never forget it.

I am a mature woman who will be 70 in 2 weeks and wear white pants, white capris and white shorts. I have alot of different colored tops that go with white pants. I also wear white shoes and sandals but not after Labor Day(I guess that went out with the younger generation).

I get tired of black, brown, grey and blue that I wear all Winter so white, light green, beige and light blue are the colors I wear during the summer.

I also wear a watch. I feel lost without one because I don't own an Ipad or cell phone that has the time on it.

I had to get a bra when I was in 5th grade--we called them a "training" bra. I remember it was the most uncomfortable thing EVER! And to add insult to injury, my mom always made me buy the ones just a cup size too big, so I would have "grow room". I h@ted that scrunched up look on my chest, and envied the girls whose moms let them wear bras that actually fit! I never did stuff my bra though....I guess that was just TOO taboo! Big Grin

wow, karen. that is so young. guess you younger gals developed earlier than us old-er ones. and it never dawned on me to stuff grandma's bra. that would have been way too funny. flat chested one day, and not the next. chuckle.. chuckle.

It was just enough to look "inappropriate" in a t-shirt, ya know? Not like I was that well endowed at age 10!! Eek

I was thinking, maybe I'd only be one "D" today if she hadn't allowed that extra grow room!! Razz Big Grin

bana ~ that was the first thing that came to my mind - did you stuff your grandma's Size B bra? Otherwise, doesn't it get all scrunched up? An undershirt in the 8th grade. OMG!!! (That my dear bana, is embarrassing!) I am like Hazel, I got my first one in 5th grade and I was so embarrassed. I started developing early and my aunt suggested I get a bra. However, even though I did develop 'early', I still remained an "A" for a long time. I really didn't get 'big' until I was about 35. At that point, who cares? I didn't! (be careful what you wish for!!)

I got 2 bras for back to school when I was headed into the 7th grade...after I had fashioned my own out of 2 bandanas all summer. My step-mother bought A cups...they were already toooo small, so I stuck out all over! That was embarassing too! I bought my own as soon as I got some money & got the right size. I've bought my own every since & was professionally fitted back when I was 18...she convinced me that my C cup was too small & my ###s around were too big...she was right.

oh dear, this bra discussion is funny. I developed late...started the 7th grade and all the girls wore bras and here I was, looking as flat as a first grader. Wow, something happened to those girls over summer vacation...they had hips too and I looked like a stick. I whinned and whinned until momma got me a training bra - funny, there was nothing to train but some bumps. So I stuffed socks in the cups..one week flat, the next week gentle curves. This was fine until I wore a sleevless shirt one day and someone saw one of the sock tops.Thankfully these were my girlfriends who noticed....but did I ever get teased. Thankfully mother nature finally caught me up to speed and by the time 8th grade came around the stick figure had a few small bumps of her own, sans socks. What memories y'all have brought up!

yes, wavee, it did get all scrunched up. and i had no reason to not wear an undershirt. no sign of needing a bra yet. maybe it was 7th grade.. i don't remember exactly when. plus my mother was a stepmother, and suffice to say we were not close and personal about much of anything.

I hate bras! But being the size I am there's no way I can "bounce" them off my wardrobe list. LOL!

I went from skinny boyish figure at 11 to WOWSA 130lbs over 5'9" in two years. Wearing a C cup at 13 and looking like you're 18 has it's advantages and disadvantages. My BFF who was barely an A cup used to call me a cow, she was so jealous!

5'9" and 130 lbs. sounds beautiful!!! I got into movies for 'children's prices' for a looong time. I bet you never did!
I have a co-worker, that she says as soon as she gets home she takes off her bra. Ewwww! (she's about 5'9" and biggish, and she has a teenage son) Who wants to see her dangling principles??? I wear my bra until it's beddy-bye time. I don't like dangling boobies....Wink(on ME!!!)

Your're right Wavee, no one believed I was 13 or 14 much less 12. Of course back then I welcomed looking "all grown up" as with most teenagers, the faster you aged the better.

Now, it would be nice to look 25 again. Not BE 25, just look it. LOL!
