I have a friend whose husband is a lawyer and he grows the most lovely orchids. She said he does it to calm his nerves.

Those are beautiful Muddy.......never tried to grow orchids...have heard they are finicky and I don't have the patience for finicky plants. They are beautiful and I like seeing them. The varigated pointsettias are sure unique...wish they had a longer pot life. Thanks for the beauty on this gray day. ve

Muddy, are those cut orchids? They are lovely. I like the pink & white together. If they are cut ones, I wonder how long they last?

I never tried to grow ochids except the ground ones I have, they spread pretty well. That poinsetta is amazing...is that real or artificially colored?
|
Love the orchids...I don't find them finicky. Quite easy to grow & care for. Cut orchid stems can last for about 3 weeks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've decided to quit my job, drop out of society, and wear live animals as hats."

The first picture were all potted up~~Your choice! "Those that throw mud, lose ground!" :>)

So very pretty! I had a tiny bit of luck at my old office, but not at home. I guess just not the right light/temp/watering....need I go on? Some folks are great at getting them to rebloom. Not so sure about the tie-dye poinsettia! It is colorful, but looks soooo unreal!

Just got 3 minature orchids at the supermarket for $6.99 each--they will go in a terrarium that I got for a gift. We get my MIL one each year and she does nothing for them--they just need filtered light and a bit of water--tag says one ice cube a week. I got her some liquid fertilizer for them but I doubt that she uses anything at all. At this time of the year, they are plentiful and the prices are much lower than at other times. I like natural poinsettias--I don't like the colored ones at all. If I want to use a different color, I get fake blooms at Michael's, etc.
|
Home Depot Garden Club just posted a BOGO coupon for orchids....but I doubt that I'll try them even at that price...I admire all those lovely shapes and colors, though!
|
at this time of year, not me.... I found I couldn't get them from the store to the car fast enuff... cold outside!!!.... so if you want any of those, take a foam cooler with you, have someone keep the car warm and don't let them catch the smallest chill!!!.... "Gardening Keeps Me Growing!"
