or maybe a Morchella?

can anyone ID this? it was alone in the flower bed. found one other in another bed a couple weeks ago. it is hollow in the stem.

no, i'm not going to eat it. i don't know much about 'shrooms except what i get in the grocery store.. but know enough to not eat an unknown one. and i washed my hands after handling it just to play it safe.

thanks.

It's huge, but it reminds me of a Morel.

Nope, not a shaggy mane mushroom. Not shaggy enough...I agree it looks similar to a morel.

isn't nature beautiful? the underside kind of reminded me how we folded the pages of the reader's digest to make some kind of christmas craft. don't remember what it was tho.

Muddy, isn't the color of the underside of your mushroom just to die for? Not brown, not red, not purple but all gorgeous!!!

Didn't we used to make door stops from those catelogs where you folded the pages?

It was a Christmas tree from a folder magazine because I made one too. Whee, never again.

I love the intricate designs of 'shrooms...Bana, glad you chose not to eat it. I'd be afraid to try it myself, even if everyone thinks it's a morel.

Oh, I wouldn't eat it either. I think it looks morel-like, but I wouldn't trust it.
