Well, mama needs a total makeover, picture shown is mothers day 2008 when she was first given to me.She's been left oustside thru wind and snow and rain. The pink one is new(and will be brought in in the fall) and prince is a few years old now and brought in since I got him.
Appears we have the same quirky taste Karen.

Wow!! You have done so much! I love seeing your "novelties" too.

Summers are just this side of hell, but you don't have to shovel sunshine...

Thumbie, don't you wish they would stand up to sun fading a little better than that? Wonder if you could spray them with anything to keep them from fading? I don't think repainting them would really work very well....Frown

Thanks, KG! We have done a lot, but we have A LOT more to do! Only 1/3 acre, but every inch of it neglected for years. Getting there, though. I tell myself I'd like to be on the city garden tour in 2016...we might be presentable by then....Wink

Yea, I know what you mean...probably why mama has been sitting in the shed for 2 years waiting on a makeover. I am half afraid to take a spray can to her. She really is pathedic looking today. Frown

How could I have possibly missed this thread??? I must have been asleep at the wheel, uh, I mean TV or 'puter......
Everything is so beautiful and I can't get over your colander planter. I had the exact same one you planted Coleus in!!! I used it to strain my homemade COMPOST a couple of yrs. ago. We had the same idea of using it in the garden instead of the kitchen. Smart minds thinks alike!!! I love WHIMSEY in landscapes and yours has alot of it. Really cute!!!!

Well, it's about time, Wavie...I was really getting offended that you hadn't chimed in.... Wink Big Grin

Definitely plant something in your colander!! I lined mine with coconut coir and newspaper before I put potting soil in it, and it holds water very well! And let's see a pic when you do!!

Yes, ya gotta have whimsy in the garden! A few years ago, when the country crafting was all the rage, I always had whimsical pictures, signs and knick-knacks all over my house. Now that we are more (ahem) sophisticated, I still have to have whimsy SOMEWHERE!! I try to add a few new pieces each year, without getting too overloaded.

Thanks for the compliments!

Come to think of it, my backyard (& front yard) is totally WHIMSEYLESS!!!! I love chimes and bought some a few yrs ago, but they finally broke. I have to buy some more (I bought one on vacation in Maine a few yrs. ago and hang it in the backyard.) Some things have a way of getting stolen in the front, such as solar lights (all of them are always stolen, a flag, etc.) I never put anything valuable in front of the house, except I did hang the chimes, shhhhhhh! ;-)

Prince is in the perfect spot! It's like he originally was crouched down hidden from the view and then he pops out at people passing by and says "boo!"

Jeanette, I will ask him and let you know. It is pretty heavy, but his prices are so reasonable, it might not be TOO terribly expensive!

Thanks, Kris!!!

Did any of you see the giant pot people in a recent issue of Midwest Living? They are 8-10 feet high and the garden was filled with lots of fun stuff. I will try and find the issue for you.
