Muddy, those pictures are excellent as usual. I still worry about having Datura and a dog. As you know, I personally have found them very poisonous.

I never knew there were annual Dahlias! I always hated digging the bulbs in the fall. That is a very pretty Hibisucus. Didn't the Japanese beetles find it? They sure did mine!

enjoyed all your pictures. you may call yourself muddy.. but you do have a green thumb. now... about the 4 o'clock. very pretty BUT.. you will have a heck of a time getting rid of it if/when you decide you don't want it anymore. i, too, planted some from seed a few years ago out of curiosity. its still coming up. thing is, i can dig it out but the roots (tubers?) breaks off. i wish i would have done my homework on that one. that said, yours is a very pretty color.

My doggie knows his boundaries so plant where he knows not to go. Warn anyone I share seeds with. That datura is in rich soil & looks like it wants to take over the yard!! Can't believe it this year!~~~
I had less beetles so Milky spore seemed to help. I have white & pink hibiscus too. Only the white formed seeds last year! :>(( I sure nejoy them by the patio & covered in buds! Still flowering...

Bana~ They are not a problem here. I have planted the common varieties for years. They just behave like normal annuals for me in my soil here in Ohio. I always plant a few for color later in the summer. Love these marbles!

glad to hear that, muddy.. that you know your plants and won't get any surprises. yours is a beautiful color. mine were solid yellows, and reds, some magenta and i rue the day i planted them. i have to stay on top of 'weeding them' before they grow into big shrubs... still have them coming up in what is now the daylily bed. maybe there are two varieties? annuals and perennials?

Muddy, your garden is beautiful!!!! I love those Marbles!!! I've never seen those before.

Neighbor told us my bleeding heart vine is a monster. He's added more supports because it keeps falling over with just the one I have. I'll take pictures when I get home and show you guys. It's never done much before, but this is the first full season that's been in full sun.

Great pics Muddy! I love the 4 o'clocks too!

Bana, 4 o'clocks are hard to get rid of in our warmer climates where the ground doesn't freeze.
I have managed to get rid of all of mine but one pink one. One root I dug up was over 12" long & almost as big around as my forearm.

Love the 4 o'clocks--my mom used to have them and they make me smile. Your hibiscus is very pretty. Looks like you've been watering the plants surrounding the patio, they look absolutely lush and fabulous.

OMG.. that must have been some digging you did to get a tuber that size! i'd have to take all plants out to dig that deep. i do plan to move the daylilies in the fall so that will be my moment of opportunity to try to get the bed dug deep down. thank goodness for my neighbor who does my heavy gardening for me. of course i reward him with some pocket money.. and a nice lunch. he just turned 50.. same age range as my sons.. not working.. and so its a win-win that benefits him and me. lucky me.

You always have such pretty, healthy looking flowers, including those from seeds. OMG, that Morning Glory is on Steroids, what are you feeding it, pray tell? Eek Can you please tell me what's your procedure for planting seeds? I love planting seeds, and plant a lot of them indoors, a lil too early I think. I am not as successful with my seeds, but I love planting them and can't stop. When do you first plant the seeds? What's your secret to having them mature so nicely? Do you use "grow lights" or a "greenhouse"? Do you replant them a few times to larger pots indoors??? You always have such gorgeous flowers from seeds. I am very jealous..... Frown

The more seeds you save the more you have to experiment with in the Spring. I have been starting several varieties of whatever interests me under my light (geraniums as early as Feb some years) You have to really pay attention to your weather patterns, temps & seed packet instructions plus I think you need a bit of luck too! I use alfalfa tea, compost & good quality potting soil.

Karen~~ If you knew how my summer has gone ~~well you might even say I've lost my marbles !! Big Grin Wink

LOL I thought the same!

Lovely, lovely, lovely flowers/plants and pics! I'm always amazed by those hibiscus flowers and that little birdie is so cute. Isn't he big enough to find food for himself? Woulda thot by the time they are out of the nest they can forage on their own. Guess that may show how little I know about birds! TFS

If they weren't so invasive here, I'd love to have some of your marbles!!! That is one of the prettiest 4 o'clocks I've ever seen. Is it fragrant? One thing I do love about them is the fragrance you get on hot humid nights......you step outside and the air is so sweet. Hummingbird moths love them too.

Love the jungle patio.....that's my kind of garden...lush and full! Ditto what Bana said. You're going to have to change your name to Green Thumb.

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous garden with us...oh, and the fat little birdie too!

Lucky, momma will keep feeding them for quite some time after they fledge the nest.

Ditto great pics!
I have a dark red 4oclock and it is huge this yr. I don't usually let it grow. I've kept it cut down for yrs. I'll bet the root is a foot deep or more!!
I just wanted some easy color this yr. since we have the house on the market.
i'd love some of your Marble seeds if there is enough! Thanks for sharing your pics as usual.
