Well it's time to confess. We couldn't keep up with the lawn duties-mowing, trimming, fertilizing anymore.

DH has always done most of the lawn work for 29 years but it's become a struggle. Our little half-acre was just too much since his back surgery. I always took care of the planters/flowers/mulch duty but was frustrated trying to keep up too.

So...I gently suggested to DH that we hire someone to help us and interviewed someone two weeks ago. DLG (dear lawn guy) went over all the details including weeds and mulch. What??? At first I was trying to be so casual and "OH no, I'll still do weeds/mulch". Quick thinking about hauling those mulch bags and I let him have it all. So WIN for DH and WIN for me too. Smile

I will admit the Lawn Man has taken a big load of stress off my shoulders. I still play in the planters and feed my worms whenever but YEP, I'm in Love!

Here's here we started.

Did you say WEEDS? So sad they are bigger than the flowers!

The planter bed trimmed by him and then I put 2 bags of mulch down that I had. He gives me confidence that our yard will look good again.

Good for you. We have a lady who trims out shrubbery in the spring. We cannot do it. It would take me all year to do it and I would never be the same afterwards. I am going to hire someone to clean house this month--every 2 weeks. We are admitting to ourselves and each other that we cannot do it and since we have the money to hire someone to do it, why not. We have a man painting the house now. We worked hard for our money we might as well have someone help us out. Afterall, we cannot take it with us.

Oh, goody. I'm so happy for you. I sure would love to find someone to do the same at our house. We have someone who mows the lawn, but that's all. Anything else we have to decide and tell him. Then he'll do it, most of the time. But nothing in the flower beds.

Thank You Ladies!

Sorie, It was hard for us to admit that we needed help but it really was the best decision.

Owie, You are so right. Glad you are getting nice help too.

Vera, It felt funny sitting while he was working but I can get used to it.

FFG, It can be hard to find the right helpers. Good luck.

That looks great! I agree, sometimes you just need help. Our Son-in-law mows our lawn (it's 2 acres and he has a riding mower). It's such a relief having someone doing it and he likes the extra **.

I do all the flower beds and stuff like that and it keeps me busy enough.

Your grass is so green and lush looking!

I have had mine for 4 years now - since DH retired LOL! From the list above he does everything but the dusting. He cooks every week night, and regularly cleans the 3 bathrooms top to bottom.

Owie, after cleaning my own split level house for almost 40 years, when I sold it and moved to a one level condo, the first thing I did was get two women(recommended) to clean my condo every 2 weeks. Believe me it's worth the money. Not only can't I do all that work any more(I turned 70 this month and have sciatica)but it's a pleasure knowing it is being cleaned every 2 weeks. I highly recommend it.

I'd LOVE to have a lawn guy. Oh yeah, wait a minute, I do. DH! He will never relinquish his duties, cuz he won't pay anyone LOL.

I could use a pool guy though ~wink wink~

Oh my zone9, for one like that, I might part with some dollars. Eek Big Grin I'm a tight-wad as far as lawn/garden stuff and have that "I'd rather do it myself" syndrome!
