I divided a stem from my sand cherry a few years ago & started another in my backyard. The one in the front never had fruit but the one that I started is in some fertile soil ~~ Well > I see fruit!
I thought they were edible? Ever have any?!! Its
a small shrub that grew quite tall & presently has
about four branches of these lovely berries! I am tempted to taste them?~~or leave for birdies?

They look like the pin cherries we have up here that are ripe when they turn more purple. The pin cherries make great jellies and pie. I see from the Internet they are both from the same family. Do you know the scientific name?

I'm not sure but I thought that Sand Cherries were toxic to humans. So you might want to take the pic and/or some fruit and/or leaves to your local extension office or and get a positive ID before you try them.

They are so pretty. It would be hard not to try one. I wonder why the tree in front does not have fruit?!
