This Gerbera is blooming its heart out! I have a connection with this one since it is the only one I was able to keep alive after years of trying. I overwintered this guy last year.

This mandevilla is supposed to form a shrub, but it sends out vine soots once in a while so I thought I might as well train the up the pergola.

Pink China EE from mail order. Says they are hardy to zone 6, but don't quite trust that. Confused I think I'll leave it in the ground this winter anyway and see what happens.

The wisteria is growing nicely. Hopefully it will get to the top of the pergola by the summer's end. Hope you enjoyed your walk through my yard this afternoon. Stay cool! Cool

Everything looks great. Daylilies don't seem to be affected by the heat. In my area, most are already bloomed out. You are lucky to have such nice flowers.

Everything looks really beautiful! I'm impressed you were able to keep the Gerbers alive over winter!

I love your brown wicker patio furniture! The cushion colors go great with your plants!

I love all your pretty flowers and I really love the Gerbera flowers that you 'overwintered'! I love E.E. but I am not sure if they need sun or shade. I know they need a lot of room. Very pretty!!!
I am going to try and overwinter my Geranium plant I rec'd as a gift for Mother's Day. TFS!

Love 'em all. Soooo nice. Great job!

My mandevilla is a pink one this year. I've had a red one and last year I had a pink & white striped one, but lost it over the winter.
Very nice gerb...mine all dried up in the heat this year. Frown

Thanks for the pics.

Thank you everyone for your compliments!

Vera, I am enjoying the new camera. Wish I had time to take more pics! I'll try and get out there more often. I, too, love to see others' flowers. Smile

Thumbie, we missed out on the storms you got. They seem to travel through the middle of the state and veer north just as they are about to reach us. Frown

Silly Bird, I don't do anything special for my mandevilla. That particular one is very happy. I bought another one this spring and that one just died.

Everything looks so pretty and healthy. Love the red Mandevilla and the Gerberas bring out the color of your patio seating.

My "Black Magic" EE''s get blacker the more sun they get. The new leaves tend to be greenish.

Your plants look great Shook! My mandevilla is growing...just not blooming. It will probably bloom about the time I have to put it in the garden house for the winter. Roll Eyes

zone9, I was going to say the same thing. I've had Black Magic several times and it was much darker than shook's. Also, I've never seen them grow as large as the basic green ones I've had, which can grow to 3 or more feet for 1 leaf!

This year I'm trying Hilo but it's not as large yet either.

Shook...all so pretty! And wow, your hibiscus blooms early...that's the perennial one, right? Mine rarely blooms before late August.

BTW, I don't think I'd risk leaving those EE's in the ground at zone 6. They will probably freeze or rot before spring. Maybe others here will advise you differently and have had different experiences?

Wow zone 9, those EE's are dramatic. I've never grown them but I like them a lot. My hibicus has bloomed this week. Got a new dark red one last year and it survived and has quite a few blooms. The old pale pink one is hanging on but I don't know if it will bloom.

Z9, now THAT is what I was hoping mine would be. It does get full sun, but is in a well-drained area. I think they need lots of water, so that may be why mine are green. Confused

Oh geez, mine get sooo much water it's ridiculous and if they don't they start to fall over. EE's love lots of water, I actually think they would grow in standing water when it's this hot, like my banana plants.

Oh and they like MiracleGrow too.

I know that's why my cannas aren't growing...not enough water. I have to move them this fall.
