We had heavy rain around 3 p.m. There is a local flood watch but we live on a knoll so the house wil be safe. There are low lying areas on my way to work so will need to be careful tomorrow morning. They say thunderstorms around 9 p.m. tonight.

Same for us.. 9 p.m. seems to be the witching hour. It is to last until 4 a.m. or so. As Patty Louise said, I hate these storms in the dark of night. Everyone in the path, be safe.

Just watched the NBC news. Storm seems to be moving up the east coast.......even DC is under a tornado watch. Everyone stay safe.....these are nasty storms with very high winds and heavy rains. I hate storms in the dark of night too...they are much more scary because you can't see what's going on.

Barb in Mississippi - glad that you survived with only a broken pot.

So GaKaren, are you ok? The rest of you who checked in...all ok? damage?

We made it through! It moved on about 20 min. ago. LOTS of strong winds. I've got some things scattered in the yard that will wait until morning for me to find. Our power flickered a couple of times but stayed on. What really amazed me was we didn't loose the satelite! Normally if we get a little heavy rain it will go out for half hr. or so...but not tonight!
Our temps have dropped from 73º to down to 52º right now....and still dropping pretty quick. Supposed to drop into the 30's tonight.

We only got some heavy rain (we needed the rain, although 1.20" of the 2" we got fell in one hour, which is a little fast) and some wind. But the winds are stronger now that the rain is gone. The lights have blinked a few times within the last hour.

We had one pretty bad tornado in NW GA in a town where we lived for 3 years (but not near where we live now.) So I know the area that got hit well and was sad to see all the destruction and to hear of the one death and the multiple injuries up there.

GAKaren, so glad you are okay. I was watching that line go toward your area and was concerned.

Barb, glad you are okay too.

Hope everyone still in it's path or who got it tonight and haven't had a chance to check in will be okay too or are okay after it has passed.

I was watching the radar pretty close because they gave out a tornado warning for a town a ways south of us..... then all of a sudden rain started whipping around us beating the sam hill out of the house!!!... now, that's not too strange, but what was after it was gone WAS!!... I'm gonna have to wash every window on the house!!... EVERY window got rain spattered!!... how does THAT happen????.. musta been some swirling wild winds out there, too, huh?... sheesh.....knowing how much I like to do my 'wash them inside' windows!!!!... LOL!!....must be a push to start the spring cleaning early?.... heehee....hope everyone got the rain they needed but no damages....

We made it threw alright. Have not found any damage. Was awakened several times during the night with howling winds and heavy rain beating on the house. IT almost sounded like hail but none was forcasted and I do not see any damage. There was flooding on my way to work. The rain was heavy. Glad most of you had no damage and made it threw alright. Storms are scary, especially at night but I learned from my dear dad that they can be beautiful also. I know how dangerous the lightening is but I love watching it. Also love how the thunder rolls down over the hills here in Harford county, MD.

Wow Toots, that sounds scary! Glad you made it through ok.

You too Owie.

We had wind gusts up to 44mph last night. During one gust, I thought I heard something fall. This morning, I discovered that our neighbors' recently dead pine (I can tell it hasn't been dead long because it still has all it's limbs and pinecombs but no longer has it's needles) in their back yard was partially uprooted and is now leaning on another of their pines. Guess they will need to get someone in to get it taken down since it is leaning over their back fence. It's toward the other side of their yard so shouldn't be a threat to our place. I'm not aware of any other damage around here.

The biggest of the GA tornadoes was rated a strong EF3 by the NWS survey team this afternoon. The path was 25 miles long and I think they said it was 1/4 mile wide. Still only one known fatality from that twister but there are still a few people in critical condition. They continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, especially since I know that area.
