Hello ladies, It's the bag-lady, LOL! I'm glad to see the thread is still going strong! I've have two doctors appointments the last couple of days and grocery shopping so I haven't been on too long. Had to do some catch-up reading.

Jackie, I don't know if it will work where you are but the Kalanchoe I have grows the same as the purslane..just break off a stem and push it in the soil. I did that a couple of months ago in all my pots under the pergola and they are all taking off....at least the ones the squirrels didn't dig up everyday. Mad

Thumbie..that poor gray kitty! Whatcha gonna do with him? I've seen several "drop-offs" around here too. It's so sad. I just want to make sure they don't come in contact with my animals.

Joyluck..that's one gorgeous healthy animal there..so regal looking!

Bana..that door IS "Caliente"! LOL!

Love the little grey guy. My son and daughter each have a cat that was dumped or about to be dumped--the daughter's teacher showed up with a box of kittens, when she was in high school and said he would take them down to the animal shelter if no one wanted a kitten--so of course we took one. My son found a starving kitten inside a flower pot behind our office and so he has that one and one that he found behind his house. So many animals and not enough people to adopt! Guess we are the ones who do take in the poor creatures who are left behind by others.

Love the maine coon cat they are supposed to be wonderful.

Oh Bana... You must be so pleased with the color of that lily! Love your door, too.
Love reading about everyone's successes.

My "brag" of the week is that I picked four ripe tomatoes Wednesday. It's the first time in 41 or so years that they've ripened in June. I think July 3 was the earliest before this. Probably the first time ever that I got the first one; most years, the squirrels or rabbits do. Censored

doing the happy dance here to hear the good kitty news.

that yellow daylily really is beautiful. it makes me realize that there are some lilies that will get pulled and replaced. [how come i always seem to love the $95 ones? and no, that is not in my budget.] life is too short to live with un-pretty flowers. i'll post the ones i don't want to keep ~ once they bloom ~ to see if anyone out there wants them.

you mean thats actually a flower? not a wood sculpture? it is very unusual and not what comes to mind when i think 'flower'.

come to think of it, i don't think i've ever seen a flower i didn't like.. even if it wasn't something i'd want in my garden. but some of these lily colors have disappointed my expectations. thats because i can't afford the really beautiful ones. and some were sent as bonus with ones i bought.. so i didn't choose them for myself.

ga.karen ~ you are welcome. i put 'my secret' here for everyone to have so you are not stealing it. i don't have a problem with blueberries and didn't rinse them. but strawberries are so fragile that they are gonners if i don't use them in about 3 days. so to find them 11 days later and they are still good to eat because i did use the vinegar/water rinse on them, well that is amazing to me. now i'm more apt to buy them.

straight vinegar is supposed to be a weed killer too. i'm trying it and think a couple doses might do the trick.

amazing stuff, this vinegar. i put a cup full into the laundry rinse water to help get rid of soap residue. think it helps.. and the clothes don't smell like vinegar.

wonder what else i could use it for.. other than salads.

Darling birdie pics! I see that feeding activity going on ~~ on my patio too!

I rinse my berries in lemon water & let them set in it for a few minutes...then freeze whatever I don't use immediately. You can take just a few out of freezer at a time or place in microwave for a few secs to use again.

Wow Lookie here> Opened today!

House finches are monogamous and the male does feed the offspring. He also feeds the female during the breeding and incubation of the eggs and when the babies are still in the nest. Both parents feed the young and fledgling offspring. In fact, the male will continue to feed the fledglings for two weeks after the female has stopped.

And the Daddy will teach them how to drink too and how to take a bath. That is super funny to watch. Most of the young will stick their head in the water & shake their butts with the first few baths...until they figure out to put ALL of them in the water! Big Grin
Blue bird Daddies do a lot of feeding & teaching too! They will also remove the feces of the young from the nest...quickly!

good to know, ga.karen. now i wish the bird bath was still where i could see it from my e-z-chair. i need one of those round mirrors just outside the door.. like what you see by driveways.

speaking of mirrors... here's one i came home with today from the vintage resale shop. i just may have to swap it out for the one on the big patio though. that mirror is also round, but larger and with no frame. got DH to agree to do that. woooo hoooo.
