for vegetable gardening and then I come here. And you all make me change my mind. I love all your posts and when you post about some of the problems you have in your garden I think I am not alone. So guess I am still going to be a vegie gardener again next year.lol

You should see my maters now...the 3 grape tomato plants I didn't pull. They look horrible, pathetic...only a few leaves the horn worms didn't eat! But I see some tiny new growth coming...so more maters later in the fall!
And I've got half of my little patch ready for my fall crops...cabbage, broccoli, snap peas & english peas. My celery hasn't come up yet, they are slow. And I'll be sticking a bunch of fast grows inbetween like radishes & lettuce.

Owie- funny you should say that. Every year about this time I say, Next Year not going to plant so much......come spring when the itch hits, guess what! All those resolutions go right out the window...and we end up with a garden chocked full again.

Plus, with grocery prices now.......it ends up being much cheaper to provide a healthy meal that you know is free from all that scary stuff they show on tv.

I got some inspiration from an 82 year old patient today. He grows 3 dozen tomato and pepper plants and gives his leftovers away. I'm thinking if he can still do that I can too. Maybe it will be different next year because I will be retired.

What an inspiring story!!! Glad you will continue to plant things! You can plant less, so it's not a big, demanding project! I got some nice tomatoes earlier in the season and then some fungi seemed to have taken over. I felt bad, but was surprised and a little relieved when I noticed my 'green thumb' neighbor's veggies weren't that good-looking and her squash had the same powdery mildew mine has. I felt bad but I figured if she's been gardening for many, many years, then I should continue too. That guy was an absolute total inspiration, how cute! Wish he was MY neighbor!!
