Each year our garden club does a nature themed Christmas tree for the local courthouse and library. This year we used pine cones, dried hydrangea blooms, wisteria pods, crepe myrtle seed pods and pods from the Paulowina tree...all sprayed silver and tied with silver bows......then we used assorted cardinals for color. I thought it turned out beautifully and wanted to share. Amazing what a couple of creative people can come up with.....(not me), I just followed directions Hope you enjoy looking! ve

Beautiful. How did you dry the hydrangeas? Did you have to dry the pods before you painted them?

Thanks ladies - I loved this tree....one year we collected leaves and sprayed them...that one was pretty too, and one year we made ornaments from walnut hulls, gourds, dried queen annes lace and other ornamental looking weeds, okra pods, etc. This one is so pretty in person, I think it's my favorite. Still trying - you dry the hydrangea blooms by cutting them off and standing in a jar, or by hanging upside down...takes awhile. They will be brown when dry...and are very fragile, so you have to handle them carefully. The pods all need to be dry, but by this time of the year, most everything is dry enough to spray paint. My contribution was some pine cones and some of the paulownia pods. Who'd have thunk they would have turned out so beautifully...the slightly open pods look like silver bells. So glad y'all like the decorations. ve

Maybe we should create a new thread where we ALL share photos of our Christmas trees (for those of us who celebrate)! Thoughts? What other natural elements have you all used to adorn your tree? "Bloom where you are planted."

Hi Mallory - I like your idea. I have already used a honeysuckle wreath decorated with natural materials.......I'm thinking of doing one for my mailbox. If I do, then will take pictures and share. Hopefully others will jump onto the thread and share. ve

Thank you for answering my questions. You do follow directions well. I hope you don't mind if I say I think you must of had some creative influence on this project.
