Does anyone here do it? My DH bought some raw (green peanuts) & now can't remember how long you boil them...he hasn't done it since he was a kid. I don't like them! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

I haven't done them in years, but I do recall that it takes quite a while. I'd start at 45 minutes and have him check them. May need a bit more, or they could be okay then. Let him be the judge. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Bana, they are soft & mushy...that's why I don't like them. I like crunchy nuts. Thank you for the recipe! Duh, where was my brain last night? It must have gone to bed earlier than I did! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

Most southerners use add only salt to the water to cook them. Using the Old Bay would give you cajun spices and might be hot. Just make sure DH like hot spicy before you use that. And, you don't have to cook them until they are mushy! That's why you check them all along. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Thanks FFG! I'm not cooking them, he is, outside on a gas burner! He had only planned to add salt, but someone told him 1C per gallon of water I have only done them once and that was over 20 yrs. ago when we first moved down here. Maybe I boiled them too long but mine were mushy. I still don't like the flavor doing them that way. I'm not a big peanut fan anyway but I sure like me some pecans, english walnuts & almonds! Had to come back to add...it you put the peanuts in a Snickers bar I like them just FINE!This message has been edited. Oh, my gracious!!! 1 cup to 1 gallon?????? Those puppies would float like a balloon in BRINE like that!!!!! That's far too much. I'd probably start with 1 tablespoon of salt, but that might not be quite enough. It does take practice to get them right every time. Let me know how they turned out. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
