The rest of my gardens are burned up. However, the sunflowers are in the veggie garden where they got frequent watering. The ladies popped up immediately after our little bit of rainfall a couple days ago.

Who loves sunflowers? The bees!!

Oh my goodness.....this is so funny. My surprise lilis won't show because when I titled the picture I called them N-ekk-id ladies, without the spaces (in my image folder). Will have to go and rename them to post. Ridiculous!

Love the sunflowers, so colorful. I really should grow them next year.
Your ladies are stiking, are they lavender or is it just my screen?

Great pics! Love the details on the sunflowers and bees.

Why do they call those other flowers "N" Ladies? They are pretty too. I don't think they will grow here in zone 10. Frown

Great pics VE! Love that last sunflower, really nice color to it. No "N" ladies here yet either.

BR, they will grow for me here in 8b, you might try to see if they will make it. They are a lot like the spider lilies....do those grow in your part of Tx.?

Beautiful! Great photos of the Bumbles. We had some Surprise Lilies in Louisiana. They always shot up around September. But they looked like these Lycoris...

Thanks y'all. Bana thank you for the sweet compliment and for the explanation you gave to Beau's Rose. I've been bizzy canning and didn't get back here right away.

Thumbie - the color is actually a pinkish lavendar, so your screen is probably spot on.

Muddy, my camera is a little point and shoot Canon S51S...it's several years old now and probably obsolete as far as technology goes.

Z9 - Love your Lycoris...mine aren't up yet...might not even show this year due to the drought. Yours are early. The N*kid ladies are in the Lycrois family, so that's why they look similar.

Glad everyone enjoyed the pictures. With everything else burned and yellow, these bloomers are a welcome respite.

Those Lycrois that zone9 posted is what I call spider lilies.

BR, sorry about the wrong location...had you mixed up with???? who also has a place in Ok.? Can I blame it on old age??? Big Grin

I dug up a bunch of those spider lilies out of a ditch last year so I hope they bloom this year...no sign of them yet.

Beautiful shots Vera! And the name "surprise lily" is fitting also cause it's always a surprise when I discover one blooming as I've forgotten they were even there. I have one so far blooming here in TX.

I had 4 NL--the leaves--show up this spring, they died back and was waiting for the NLs to show up now. I was careful when I dug up this horrible plant that was probably a weed and feared I dug them up by mistake) So far I have only ONE that has shot up...man they come through FAST, she is now over a foot tall and should have blooms tomorrow...not sure I am going to have any more...seems like they should have all shown up together..I will be SO MAD if i dug them up by mistake as that soil/plant are long gone....
Z9L love the color of your red 'ones' would LOVE to have some of them. Please share again the kind/where we might purchase them IF they will grow here in 5b zone....
