Is it still January?
I went shopping yesterday...drove to a town about 50 mi. NE of us. Along the way, I saw 2 azaleas in FULL bloom, one light pink the other dark pink. I quit counting how many star (?) magnolias were in FULL bloom.
Then today, I walked around my own yard. I have one early daff blooming and there are buds on several others. I have one grape hyacinth also blooming. My gold honey suckle has put out about 15 blooms and there is a bud on the red honeysuckle. I haven't even trimmed them back yet!
Those azaleas are about 3 to 4 weeks early!!!

It's darn tootn January in my area. It was very humid today and although it was 42, it felt 30. We had such a insect problem last year so i'm hoping that these last few really cold snaps kill em off! Thanks for the compliment on the RealEstate board Karen! I havent posted much on NY either...but I do check in from time to time and catch up on the post.

Well, the calendar says its January but you'd never know it by the weather!! Got up to low 70's up in the forest today where we were birding. Lows in the mid to high 40's and low 50' coming up with highs from high 60's to low 70's for the next week. Pine pollen already in the air and that's at least a month early.

We need some cold weather to help with the mosquitos and stuff.

GaK, I've noticed the flowers blooming in our area as well especially the azaleas. I just wish (and p*r*a*y) for rain. We need it so badly.

With temps yesterday in the teens and 12 inches of snow on the ground even with the sun shinning it is January, here.

It is still January here for the moment. A cold dreary rain is falling...at least it's not the ice we were predicted, although several neighboring counties both in Tn and the Alabama bordering counties do have ice.

Next week is supposed to be up into the high 50's.

any guesses or bets on what phil the groundhog says next saturday morning? I'm predicting an early spring. either way, the calendar says there's only 54 more days to go. that's less than 8 weeks away. that doesn't sound too bad does it?

Yes, it's still January here. The last few days it has been frigid. Today it was 13 deg. and freezing. It was freezing all week actually. I am very thankful we didn't get much snow at all yet (knock wood!!!). Supposed to snow tonite, but not too much.
Waiting patiently for spring to arrive! Roll Eyes

How goes that saying?
If the groundhog sees his shadow it is only 6 more weeks of winter and if he does not spring is only 6 weeks away?

FFG, I forgot about the pine pollen! All of our vehicles & most everything else has a light coating of yellow! Yuck!

Today it got up to 76º, our low last night was 53º! More of the same until at least Thur. They keep moving the next cold spell for us...first it was Wed. night, now it has moved to Thur. night...if they keep moving it, it may miss us entirely.

We are going to have a very BAD insect season ahead. We haven't had enough cold days/nights in a row to kill of much of anything.

I've also had a couple of blue birds checking out the blue bird house....too early for mating yet! Guess I need to get out there & clean it out.

All you northern folks take care on the roads & stay warm.
