I have put some "cinder blocks" around a veggie bed and placed them so that the two rectangular open sections are vertical.
I am thinking of planting something in those holes.
Would allium globemaster work? If not, what? I don't want typical stuff like daffys I have plenty.

You may want to try something a little smaller than the Globemaster. The bulbs might be a bit crowded. There are smaller aliums you could try. Then when the alium is finished you could plant marigolds or other annuals in the spots. Marigolds help keep certain critters out of your veggies, too.

I ended up getting a pack of 60 mixed(smaller) allium at a big box yesterday: closeout sale.
The pack has more than I need for this project but I am SURE I can find some other place in the yard to plant the rest. LOL

Neat...enjoy...I'd love to have 60 alliums.

My local Lowes. They and HD will mark down fall bulbs if any are unsold.

Our HD doesn't mark down anything! Maybe they have a different supplier, but the supplier takes it all back or it goes in the dumpster...no markdowns in the garden center.

Lowes is a whole different story. They are great and mark down lots of stuff.
If you are buying marked down plants, check with the garden center manager...sometimes if you purchase at least 10 marked down plants they will mark them down further. Mine took my plants down to 90% off the last time I did that.

I doubt that those here in Wisconsin will have any bulbs left...on sale or otherwise...they're usually gone & replaced by Christmas stuff by October.

Christmas stuff is everywhere here too but if you prowl around in the far corners you may find closeout stuff; in the early summer they shove the unsold seed packs into the rear of the patio shop.
Or just ask a knowledgeable clerk: the Lowes I visit has a woman who gardens and has worked there for years--she's the go-to person for me and many other tree hugging gardeners here.
