Last summer my Thanks giving catcus was setting out side on my porch and the leaves started turning red. Now it is a year later and the leaves are still red and this year I only had about 2 blooms on it. What could be wrong with it? Handie Ann

How long has it been in the same pot? Have you fed it anytime? Lots of different things could have affected them but they are sensative to light when setting buds. Some plants are so sensative that even automotive headlights will interupt their cycle & they won't bloom or only have a few blooms. Someone gave me a start and just when it grew about 4 sections and a bud...something ate it! Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can't..... You're Right - Henry Ford

I used to have Christmas cacti but they're the same plant as the Thanksgiving cactus. I think the bracts turn red when the plant is stressed. What I do with any plant that is doing poorly is repot and have a look at the roots. Even rinse them off to see them clearly. I've trimmed roots if they don't look healthy and at the same time reduce the top. Repot in good, appropriate soil type, water, and follow the guidelines for the type of plant. Don't water cactus too much. One cactus had never bloomed altho it was quite large until we went away one fall and I moved it away from bright light and it only had natural light. Came home after 2 weeks to a fully blooming beautiful plant. Guess it liked neglect, less water, and less light. Or maybe it was coincidence!
