She called them stinkweeds and did not like them. I love them. They really are my favorite flower. Her favorite flower was the double petunia. I do not care for them. I prefer the single bloom petunia. I love the way my hands smell after I deadhead marigolds. Love you mom. She has been gone 6 years now.

Owie, what a sweet memory of your mother and her garden!!! We are not always our mothers daughters, yet share the common bond of gardening likes and dislikes.

I'm with you. I love marigolds, and prefer them over petunias.

Funny you should mention marigolds and their "scent". I deadheaded some this evening, thinking, "These sure do stink." LOL I always head straight for the sink to wash my hands afterward.

Lots of things in my garden remind me of my mom. For one, I always plant tuberoses each summer in her memory. She loved their scent, and so do I.
