Moth...I'll have to look it up. I'll let you know unless someone else comes up with the answer first. Smile

We had one come in on Thanksgiving after dinner. Sheesh, more people freaked out about the silly moth. Nephew caught it in a glass & we tossed it outside. Big Grin

I think this is it: Caenurgina crassiuscula

Mgt, I was going to look it up.....I knew it was a moth of some kind. I think he's kinda cute! Moths are harmless unless they're in your closet!

This sounds like a good candidate for our Mystery Critter posts over on HGTVGardens! Time to play buggy sleuth...

Glad it's not doing any garden harm. Smile

Am I seeing hornlike things and what looks like armor plating on the back? I google image-searched "horn moth" and came up with very little except this photo. Looks like his twin, do you think?

There's no scientific name attached to it.

Gosh... Must be a bazillion moth species in the world! (And yours just might be the scariest-looking one there is... Wink )

I think it looks like a soybean looper moth because of the bronze colored sheen when the light hits it.

Here's a link to a page moth pictures. There are two pictures of the soybean looper moth, #8890. Located on the far right in the first row and the first picture on the second row.

Yes, it is hard to say which moth it is. I wouldn't want to bet money on the one I said it looks like. I still think the markings are not quite right. The colors are so pretty in the second photo that became I intrigued with finding out the name of the moth. Nettiejay is right about there being a gazillion types of moths. I hope someone can tell us what moth this is because I give up. I still want to know though.

Well, muddy... If you're really that curious, I found this site while googling that will try to ID your photo if you send it. You'll have to open a free account with them, though, so you may not want to do that. They also have a large library of photos if you'd rather search them to find a guy like yours.
