We have been having unseasonably warm weather, but today, I woke up to thunder and lightening and rain. It is still raining! When I got up this morning, it was 62 degrees outside. It is now 44, our low for tonight has been forcasted to be 26. After lows in the 50's and 60's, we are suddenly being shocked back to reality.

I'm sorry, silly bird, but how is that rubbing it in?
I could definitely handle sunny and cold, but we are under a flash flood warning and from the looks of the pasture and the front yard, they may be right!

Sunday Afternoon (3:00 CST) - 68° and breezy. Overnight temp was 62. Supposed to start dropping within the next few hours and we will be faced with January reality again.

Barb - stay safe. There are areas around here under flash flood warnings too.

Sillybird - I know that you are COLD in Colorado! I don't know how those guys played football last night...announcers said it was 8 degrees with a wind chill of minus 1. Too cold for my blood.

Weather and temps been up and down here. Warm with lots of fog yesterday. Today at 8 a.m. was 49 degrees and presently just checked 50 degrees 4:30p.m.ish.....too warm for New England in January , that's for sure! Did get rid of majority of snow. Sure not good for the plants.

We got to a high of 79º yesterday. It would have gone higher but the sun got covered up.
This morning, 9:30am we are at 67º, it was 62º when I got up at 6am. If that rain ever hits us, it will start dropping after that passes.
They keep changing our forecasts. First we were supposed to have a couple of nights in the 20s this week, then it went to one night in the 30s this week...now it is one night in the 30s NEXT week.
My perennial plants are going to be soooo messed up this spring. I've had things that normally die back stay green so far, like a few day lilies and a couple jasmine. Even one of my brugs still has a couple of green leaves at the very bottom.

They have us forecast for a high of 81º today & a bit cooler tomorrow...then we go back to seasonal temps...highs in the upper 50s, lower 60s and night temps in the upper 30s, lower 40s...UNTIL next week when we have several nights in a row in the 20s! Roll Eyes

I hung out 3 loads of laundry yesterday. It was jeans & heavy shirts...and they were mostly dry, just 10 min. runs in the dryer when I brought them in.

It's been in the 20's at night and briefly reached 50 during the day. The humidity has been in the teens and there have been high winds. I have frost burned bushes. Some have black leaves and some are brown. We are heading into a warming trend starting tomorrow with highs in the 70's. Am I supposed to give the frost burned bushes water? We haven't had any rain.

We're still warm, was 75 last time I looked. But the humidity was 88%, so it was not nice outside. I finally turned on the A/C in the house for a bit to just circulate some of the stale air and to remove some humidity. Hopefully we'll have some sustained sunshine within a couple of days, even though it will be more seasonable. These warm winters aren't good for us.

Your right VE...weird!
We got to 85.5º here at the house. I'm sure the "official" temp will be less but they aren't sitting on top of a hill, we are. It was breezy. I hung out sheets & towels today. The sheets were dry in about 10-15 min., towels (heavy ones) in about an hour & that is testing under the clothes pins!

I did clean up work today. Cut off a lot of dead stuff & put it in my "pile" that will be mulch in a few years! Big Grin I had a huge trailer load to go back there and I still have more to do but it will wait until after the next cold spell.
At 6:00pm we are 72º!

Left the house for water aerobics this morning at 9 a.m. at 72 degrees. Returned an hour and a half later at 63. I'd guess it's lower now. Rainy and dreary outside. Not much rain, just enough to be really messy.

We hit the upper 70s today...so we cooled down a bit since yesterday. We are supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow & then drop into the 30's over night....for at least a week.
But our forecast changes every time I look at it.
No rain yet. From the looks of the radar, it will all miss us. Maybe it will drift this way tomorrow.

GaKaren, wish I could share some of our rain.....so far we are over 6 inches for the month.....wish we could save some of this for July & August. Now some areas are dealing with flash flooding because the ground is soaked and the creeks/streams are overflowing.

Guess what.......today's prediction is snow! Now much for us..but east of here up to 3 inches. That's a blizzard around these here parts Big Grin

We've been pretty warm down here for the past month. Just today we're getting some much needed rain. But next week they say it may freeze. The wild Chickasaw Plums are already starting to bloom.

zone9, are those the little yellow/pinkish plums? I hadn't noticed any of them blooming here yet.

A super strange day today weather wise!!!!!!!!!!

As posted above, started out at 68º, dropped to 48º, warmed back up to 54º and now we are down to 40º! The wind picked up this morning when it started dropping the first time and grew steadily until it was around 25-30mph. It is still pretty breezy out there...about 10mph sustained with gusts of 15-20mph. Gonna be COLD tonight for us!

Well, we started out at 40 when DH got up, then it very gradually got up to the 45 that it is outside right now. Has been windy all day and the sun popped in and out. The brightness of the sun was startling at times. Supposed to have SUNSHINE for the next week. Yippee!!!

Global warming is really messing up our weather! Wink

We normally get snow/ice about once every 5-7 years. We've now had snow three years in a row and this 2013 winter isn't over yet.

This winter has been unusually cold for much longer time than normal. We've had the heater on continuously for quite a while now. Normally, it's on a day or two or a week...then off a few days/couple of weeks.

Woke to 34 degrees - supposed to be barely beyond 60 this afternoon.

What a difference a day makes. Today, warm, already up to 40 with no wind...sunshine is so bright and the lady beetles are coming out of hiding again. Grrrrrrrrr

We are supposed to have sunshine for the next 7 days......we'll see if that plays out like the prediction.

Those poor folks on I-65, which runs north and south. Big pile up from ice and snow south of here in Alabama. Last nights 10:00 news was all about people being stranded in their vehicles for 9 hours already - efforts were being made to get them to shelters. It's a long stretch up and down a mountain with no exits. Crews were trying to clear both north and southbound lanes while extra troopers/law enforcement were trying to work the wrecks.

We got nuttin! Thankful for that.

Back to "normal" now. I'm sure there will be another freeze or two, but I have everything uncovered. Put the sprinklers back on today. Cherry trees are budding and kalanchoes (sp?) are ready to bloom.

Ditto about the global warming....from ice to sunshine....yesterday 52, today supposed to be 58. Winter weeds are growing like.......well weeds Big Grin. I'm hoping to get some pulling done this afternoon...ground is still wet from all the ice/rain/sleet. It should be a lot easier to get some of them out.

oh, and some Johnny Jump Ups are blooming...silly things, but I love them.

We made it all the way up to 70º today. We weren't supposed to get quite that warm.
Supposed to drop into the high 30's again tonight, but it's got a ways to go since we are at 51º right now..8:15pm.

I went to town late this afternoon. One of the neighbors about 1 1/2mi. down the road had a pink magnolia tree in full bloom...I think they are generally star magnolias.
I saw a couple of my hyacinths up too, about 2-3".
