    After some cleanup:

There will probably be another row of larger rocks on the left side of the dry stream bed. Nothing will be done to the fence as it needs to be replaced.

KG, I really love the idea of using a side yard as living space! We did this in our last home. We had a postage stamp lot with a big house! We planted along the fence as you have done, then I put a metal trellis with wisteria next to the fence to disguise it. Probably wouldn't do wisteria again, it took over! Although it looked gorgeous in the spring, it was hard to keep in check!

I actually had a small bistro table & chairs out there. It was a great (cool and quiet) place to retreat. We also built an arch over the gate which had a Banks Yellow Rose on it. I love all our property now, but I miss that small, intimate space. I always wanted to either stain the concrete or lay down tiles...never got around to it!

Hi Chris, long time no see! Sooooo, do you have pics of your decorated postage stamp? I'd love to see it, and I bet I'm not alone.

EekKG: You can transform that to a perfect little lush garden spot~ Big bright colored pots & plants with tropical leaves... If you could turn that window into a door ~ it would be perfect. Eek
