Did anyone put on their heat yet?
I didn't put it on yet as I thought it was still too early (although I felt chilly in the house). Yesterday my DD said she felt cold and asked if she could put the heat on, I said sure. I then turned it off a little later on, as I was going to cook and naturally heat up the house.
What about others, any heat yet?!!

Nope, that won't happen for a while here. In fact, with temps up to the high 80's, the AC is actually back on. Bummer.

W have been experiencing such swings in temperature that we have alternated between heat/ac/and open windows. In fact, we went from 38° yesterday morning, to 60° this morning, with rain. This has been going on for about two weeks.

Here in the north the weather has been so good that I've not had the wood stove on every day. I get quite a bit of solar gain and it's almost always sunny so the house gets too hot if I start the stove in the am. I think I lit it 3 times in September and maybe 6 times this month. Haven't had the furnace on except for the furnace guy to test it. Still keep my bedroom window open most of the time. My house is very well insulated so with heat from humans and pets and cooking it's quite comfortable. Every day I either open windows or turn on the whole house ventilation system for fresh air.

Yes!
When we get into the low 50s at night, I freeze! I've lived down here too long now and I'm old!...but not as old as Bana! Razz
Most days it has been heat after dark/off when we get up...nothing till around 1 pm and then the a/c goes on until after supper. Some nights I don't turn it on until we go to bed.

Huh? I am totally confused by your post! (& you're knocking Bana?!) I do the Opposite of what you do. I am sometimes cold in the morning when I get up, and turn on the heat. I always turn off the A/C & Heat when I go to bed. That's what comforters/ceiling fans are for! Besides, why waste $ when you are SLEEPING???
Karen, why do you put the A/C on if you are putting on the heat? Don't you have any windows in your house that actually open up??? Confused

thanks for your concern, wavie.. but ga.karen was joking. i mentioned my age once which puts me as the oldest on the board here as far as i know.. and she was using that info to be funny. i laughed out loud when i read her post. it really tickled my funny bone. it was done in a light hearted way, so there's nothing to fret over.

Yes, I was joking with bana...she's not too far ahead of me AND VE though! Big Grin

Wavy, I'm sorry I confused you...we are at a point right now where we may need heat at night and a/c in the daytime. When it gets down into the 50's at night...the heat goes on. But we may have a 30º rise in temperate after the sun comes up...I think it was yesterday it got up over 90º in the afternoon but it was 54º when I got up that morning. This morning it was in the mid 60s when I got up so no heat last night.
Yes, I have windows! BUT, we also have humidity! If the humidity goes down I will open windows...I did today for the first time since last spring. If the humidity is up and I open windows, any foods that are "crunchy" become soggy...crackers, cookies, cereal, etc. I have learned that it is cheaper to run the a/c than to keep replacing all those foods. Even packaged noodles & spaghetti will get sort limp...at least it seems so to me.
And I need to go close all my windows RIGHT NOW cause the humidity is up to 69%!

Edit to add...
In the time it took me to close the windows & feed the cats, our humidity has gone up to 73%!

Relative humidity always rises at night as the temps fall. By morning, it'll likely be in the 85% range at least, but as soon as the sun starts heating up, the humidity levels will start to drop during the fall. Now, in the summer, they just stay up there where its sticky and brutal. Fog can be a big issue in the south at this time of year.

Yes, fog is a problem...we have had different amounts the last 3 or 4 mornings.
Our humidity is now at 78% and our temp is down to 71º.
